This month, we chatted with Yan, one of our highly-experienced Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) Instructors.

We asked Yan about his career in aviation and why he loves working at Flight Options. Here's what he said...

"I've been part of the Flight Options team since 2021. I have spent time as a Cessna Mustang Type Rating Instructor and currently as an A320 Type Rating Instructor, helping pilots develop the skills needed to operate complex aircraft safely and effectively.

"People often ask how I got into aviation. I think I was probably dreaming about flying while I was still a foetus ⎯ flying has always been in my blood. But it was when my family relocated to Europe from Africa that I knew for sure aviation would become a big part of my life. That first airline flight is one I've never forgotten. I was completely mesmerised.

"My goal has always been simple: to share my love of flying and pass on the knowledge and experience I've gained throughout my career.

"One of the most challenging aspects of MCC and type rating training is creating a positive learning experience for every student, particularly when candidates have different strengths, abilities and learning styles. However, it's also the most rewarding part of the job. Seeing students develop as crew members and build confidence in a multi-crew environment is what keeps me passionate about instructing.

"Outside of aviation, I make the most of living on the Sunshine Coast. You'll usually find me at the beach — and if not there, probably thinking about the beach.

"I've had plenty of memorable moments at Flight Options over the years, but one that stands out involved students, fresh eggs, teamwork, and an upstairs balcony as part of a CRM exercise. If you're curious about that story, you'll have to join us for a course.
