A total of 33 offences were detected throughout the 2026 duck season, with the main offence themes being in possession of toxic shot, failing to leave a wing attached and having an invalid or no Game Licence. No hunters were detected over-bagging.
The GMA issued five Official Warnings, 26 infringement notices and is conducting two investigations. The GMA also suspended nine Game Licences.
The GMA did not issue any infringement or banning notices for public safety offences during the 2026 season.
Thank you to everyone who acted safely and responsibly during the 2026 duck season.

So say 16 weeks, give or take, but rest assured they are working through it, there was an avalanche of late 2025 applications.
Sit tight. Scroll through your purchase choices. Reach out to your local dealer and see what they have in stock, but above all else
DON'T PANIC!
In the meantime, if you have any questions, need some tips or advice, not feeling the follow up love from the course you did attend through another provider
REACH OUT!
It doesn't bother us if you have passed through another safety course provider, it does bother us if you are out there in the wild trying to navigate the paperwork, you need to get it right the first time, so, please, again, if you find yourself in this situation, reach out and our VicPol and LRD trained, qualified and certified instructors, will guide you through the process at no extra cost.

The GMA joined Heyfield and Mansfield Victoria Police in an operation targeting illegal spotlighting and illegal behaviour in the Wonnangatta Valley, Dargo and Licola areas.
Approximately 50 vehicles were intercepted and their drivers and passengers checked for fi****ms, game licences, and any illegal equipment, as well as drugs and alcohol.
The following offences were detected, as reported by Victoria Police below:
• Two men were seen allegedly spotlighting with silencers and thermal equipment while consuming alcohol. Their fi****ms and equipment were seized (seen pictured).
• A man was caught with a loaded firearm while spotlighting and in possession of thermal equipment. His guns and equipment were seized. He is expected to be charged on summons
• A man had his fi****ms seized after checks revealed he was unlicenced while shooting in the Hearnes Spur area. He is expected to be charged on summons.
A number of other non-hunting and fi****ms offences were also detected.
Our Officers will continue to work with Victoria Police to help keep communities safe.
If you’re concerned about illegal spotlighting in your area, report it to the GMA online https://shorturl.at/fHR3z or call 136 186.
For urgent matters involving fi****ms, please contact 000 or your local police.
