🌟CALM BOTTLES🌟

Our Toddlers have seen some calm bottles in our learning environments and have requested to make one. Sachiko prepared some ingredients including feathers, star and heart sequins, glitter, feathers and seashells for the children to create their calm bottles.

Our Toddlers filled their water bottles with water and food colouring. They then picked what they wanted in their bottles and placed it inside the bottles. Sachiko then sealed the bottles and they enjoyed playing with it.

We have developed a culture that facilitates participation and is responsive to the input of children and young people (CSS3.5).

🌟THREADING🌟

Our Toddlers have shown strong interest in threading. We setup a threading experience for the children to engage in where they have been threading different shapes into a long string.

This experience allows our Toddlers to develop their concentration, fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. We have developed a culture that facilitates participation and is responsive to the input of children and young people (CSS3.5).

🌟WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY🌟

Our babies participated in World Environment Day. We began by looking at pictures of people sweeping leaves, collecting leaves, and helping to keep the Earth clean. Together, we talked about how we can care for our environment and help keep our outdoor spaces tidy.

Our babies were introduced to a bin liner, and together we helped open and hold the bag ready for collecting. Each baby was then given a small broom and invited to help sweep leaves around the outdoor area. They enjoyed exploring the environment, moving around the yard while using their brooms and watching the leaves move across the ground.

This meaningful experience encouraged gross motor skills, hand–eye coordination, cooperation, and a growing understanding of how we can care for the world around us. We provide opportunities for children and young people to participate and are responsive to their contributions, thereby strengthening confidence and engagement (CSS3.6).

🥛WORLD MILK DAY🥛

Our Babies celebrated World Milk Day last week. Our babies learnt that cows provide milk that we drink every day. We introduced a clear plastic glove and some white paint for the children to explore.

Our Babies then assisted with pouring some white paint into the gloves, where they all watched closely as the paint dripped into the glove. All the children had a turn at pouring the paint into the glove and then each had a turn at squeezing the glove to mix the water and the paint together to look like milk.

Our Babies were able to develop their fine motor skills through grasping and squeezing the paint water out of the glove. We provide opportunities for children and young people to participate and are responsive to their contributions, thereby strengthening confidence and engagement (CSS3.6).

🐥CHICKEN HATCHING PROGRAM🐥

We had the Chicken Hatching program delivered to us at the start of last week. Our children have been really intrigued at watching the chicks hatch from the eggs.

We were lucky to have 2 chicks already hatched when they were delivered to us. Our children were able to learn the lifecycle of chicks, have an opportunity to touch the chicks which in turn allow them to learn patience, empathy and responsibility at the same time learn about how things change and grow.

We have developed a culture that facilitates participation and is responsive to the input of children and young people (CSS3.5).

⚛SCIENCE EXPERIMENT⚛

Our babies participated in a science experiment last week. They participated in the Magic Milk experiment where they used milk, food colouring and dishwashing liquid. Our babies watched as the the food colouring dispersed in the milk when the dishwashing liquid touched the surface.

Our Kinder children learnt the water cycle where they learnt the term: evaporation, condensation, precipitation and collection. Our Kinder children were able to participate in watching how the rain falls using rain cloud experiment using cotton pads and water as well as food colouring.

As our Kinder children added water to the cotton pad, our little learners observed droplets falling through like rain. This hands-on activity helped the children understand that water droplets in clouds collect moisture and grow bigger until they become too heavy to stay in the cloud, causing rain to fall.

We have developed a culture that facilitates participation and is responsive to the input of children and young people (CSS3.5).

🌟MABO DAY🌟

Our Babies celebrated Mabo Day last week where they created a 'dhari' to signify the last day of Reconciliation Week. Our babies began by looking at the Torres Strait Islander flag together, exploring the colours green, blue, black, and white. We then encouraged them to point to the different colours and shapes while we talked about the flag in a simple and meaningful way.

Our babies used glue to attach feathers to their artwork. They showed concentration when they pressed the feathers onto the dhari, and some of them enjoyed independently choosing where each feather should go.

We provide opportunities for children and young people to participate and are responsive to their contributions, thereby strengthening confidence and engagement (CSS3.6).

🌟RECONCILIATION WEEK🌟

We participated in Reconciliation Week over the past two weeks. Our children read the Acknowledgement to County and read different Aboriginal books.

Our Babies made rain sticks, boomerangs and also decorated the Rainbow Serpent as part of Reconciliation Week. They used paint sticks for the boomerang, rain sticks and Rainbow Serpent. Our babies added some rice into the rain sticks and they used the rain sticks during group time.

Our Toddlers made rain sticks, boomerangs, Aboriginal artwork and Rainbow Serpent. They used paint sticks to decorate the rain sticks and used dot painting using the Aboriginal flag colours to decorate the boomerang and Rainbow Serpent. Our toddlers also used spray paint and used the outline of their hands on the Aboriginal painting.

Our Kinder children have been really busy during Reconciliation Week. They made damper using flour, milk, salt and butter to create the mixture for the damper. They used coloured sand to decorate different Australian animals for Reconciliation Week and coloured in their Aboriginal art piece. Apart from that, the used water colour to paint different Aboriginal art pieces. Our Kinder children also made bracelets and necklaces using natural beads and Aboriginal flag coloured beads.

We provide opportunities for children and young people to participate and are responsive to their contributions, thereby strengthening confidence and engagement (CSS3.6).

Our Kinder children also learnt using the tap tap hammer technique to trace the letter H. They used nails and hammer to trace the letter H.

Our Kinder children also have shown strong interest in tracing the different letters where they traced using the tracing puzzle or they learnt to trace the letters using a worksheet.

We provide opportunities for children and young people to participate and are responsive to their contributions, thereby strengthening confidence and engagement (CSS3.6).
