The Loreto Toorak community joins Congregation of Jesus (Loreto Sisters) in mourning the recent death of Sr Leonie Peterson CJ in Perth on Sunday 24 May 2026.

Born in Subiaco, Sr Leonie entered the Sisters in 1956. Inspired by her early education, she dedicated her life to teaching, leadership, and pastoral care across Loreto communities in Australia and overseas.

Sr Leonie taught in Portland, Albert Park, Claremont, Toorak, and Ballarat before serving in leadership roles within the Institute, including on the General Council in Rome from 1980 to 1986. She later worked in the Adelaide Archdiocese as the Vicar for Religious before returning to Perth in 1995 to join the staff at John XXIII School. She remained a cherished member of that School community until her retirement in 2018.

Sr Leonie will be remembered for her ready humour, wise friendship, and genuine care for every person she encountered. In her 60 years as a member of the Congregation of Jesus, she truly served God in her varied ministries with great love and liberty of mind.

Sr Leonie's funeral will take place on Friday 12 June at 10.30am at St Joseph's Church in Subiaco, Perth. We invite our School families to keep her in their thoughts and prayers.

May her dear soul rest in peace.

Is the modern wellness industry isolating us from our community?

We always love hearing about the pathways our alumni pursue after graduating. Former School Captain Isabel Duggan (Class of 2022) examines this very question in her article, The Solitude of Self-Care.

Since finishing her studies at Loreto Toorak, Isabel has undertaken a degree in Global Studies at Monash University. Her academic research explores how digital wellness trends impact society.

In her piece, she discusses whether an inward focus on self-care reduces collective resilience. Isabel challenges us to view wellbeing as a shared responsibility rather than a solitary pursuit.

Loreto Toorak warmly welcomed back the Class of 2006 to celebrate their 20 Year Reunion.

Nearly 60 alumni returned to the School for a lovely evening filled with shared memories and joyous reconnections. A particular highlight for the group was the wonderful opportunity to speak with a favourite teacher of many, Michelle McCarty. 🌟

Our returning students also marvelled at the recent enhancements to our campus buildings. They were especially excited to view the beautiful Year 12 Rooftop.

We truly treasure these moments that highlight the lifelong bonds formed at Loreto Toorak. Thank you to everyone who attended and brought such vibrant energy back to our School. 💙

The School welcomed the Class of 1986 for their 40 Year Reunion. It was a wonderful evening filled with heartfelt conversations and shared memories.

Attendees had the opportunity to reconnect with past teachers Dr Anne Hunt, Sue Stockdale, and Mike Mulcahy. We also extend our thanks to alumni Margie Ralph, Judy Quin, and Emma Carnovale for speaking beautifully to their cohort. 💙

Their words perfectly highlighted the enduring bond our alumni share with one another and with Loreto Toorak. Thank you to all who attended and celebrated our School community. ✨

A group of Loreto Toorak Alumni braved the weather at Sorrento Golf Club for our 58th Past Pupils' Annual Golf Day.

The traditions commenced the evening prior with a wonderful pre-golf dinner hosted by Joan Cumbrae-Stewart (1972), providing a perfect opportunity for the group to reconnect before heading to the course.

This event remains a favourite amongst our seasoned golfers, and it was fabulous to welcome new players to the green, spanning across the decades. Following the tournament, our alumni enjoyed a joyous lunch together at the club.

Congratulations to our top performers: Caroline Silk (Woodley, 1981) secured first place with a fantastic 42 stableford points, closely followed by Victoria Watson (Lawler, 1991) on 41, and Jo Cheetham in third place with 39. 🏆

Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to such a memorable event. Our past pupils beautifully demonstrate the enduring spirit and vibrant community connection of our School. 💙
