🍽️❤️ Dinner Night at Story House Tarneit
While our families enjoyed a well-deserved dinner date, the children had a wonderful evening at the service with their friends and siblings. They shared a delicious dinner of chicken parma, potato wedges, garden salad, and spinach & ricotta cannelloni before settling in for a relaxing movie night.
It was heartwarming to see children and educators spending quality time together, sharing conversations, laughter, and creating special memories. Experiences like these help children build strong relationships, develop a sense of belonging, and enjoy being part of our Story House community.
Thank you to all the families who joined us for this special evening. We loved being able to provide a fun night for the children while giving parents the opportunity to enjoy some time together. 🧡✨

Fine motor skills are an important foundation for future learning, particularly when children begin drawing and writing. Developing the small muscles in their hands helps children learn how to grasp and control writing tools effectively.
Learning through play provides children with opportunities to build confidence, resilience, and important developmental skills while having fun!

Our children recently enjoyed a hands-on healthy juice-making experience using fresh apples, carrots, and mandarins. Together, we explored the benefits of fruits and vegetables, discussed healthy drink choices, and learned about the hidden sugars often found in some supermarket drinks.
The children were fascinated as they watched the fresh ingredients transform into delicious juice and proudly tasted the drink they helped create. Along the way, they shared their favourite fruits, made predictions, practised turn-taking, and engaged in meaningful conversations about health and wellbeing.
Experiences like these help children develop an understanding of nutrition while building confidence, curiosity, and important life skills. We love creating opportunities for children to learn through fun, real-life experiences that support lifelong healthy habits! 🌱💚

We were honoured to welcome Elder Uncle Rob and his wife Janet to our service as part of our Reconciliation Week celebrations.
Children and educators had the opportunity to learn about the importance of an Acknowledgement of Country, listen to traditional stories, and deepen their understanding of Aboriginal culture, history, and connection to Country.
A special highlight of the visit was participating in a Smoking Ceremony, where Uncle Rob shared the significance of this important cultural practice of cleansing, healing, and wellbeing.
Experiences like these help foster respect, inclusion, cultural awareness, and a deeper appreciation of Australia’s First Nations peoples and their continuing connection to Country. We are grateful to Uncle Rob and Janet for sharing their knowledge, stories, and wisdom with our community.

Last week, the children in our toddlers room took part in a beautiful Reconciliation Day experience, creating vibrant handprints using Aboriginal colours.
The educator role modelled the activity, demonstrating how to paint and print a hand, which encouraged the children to confidently engage and participate. The children selected their own colours, patiently waited for their turn, and enjoyed exploring the textures and process of painting.
Throughout the experience, meaningful conversations were shared about Reconciliation Day and the significance of the colours used, helping to build awareness and understanding in an age-appropriate way.

Our children have been engaging in daily learning experiences exploring Aboriginal culture and the meaning behind the Aboriginal flag. Through discussions, art and intentional teaching, children have been learning about the significance of the colours while building respect and appreciation for Australia’s First Peoples. 🖤💛❤️
Using painting and visual learning experiences, children expressed their ideas creatively while educators supported learning through open-ended conversations, active listening and inquiry-based discussions.
