✨ A Fresh Perspective ✨

Our beautiful architectural windows have recently had a refresh with a professional clean and new window tinting applied thanks to Ben from all about tinting.

The tinting helps to reduce glare and heat throughout the day while still allowing an abundance of natural light to flow through our learning environments.

These stunning windows continue to be a defining feature of our service. We are loving the renewed clarity and comfort they bring to our environment.

πŸ“š Storytime at Essendon Primary

Today, some of our kindergarten children participated in a Storytime session at Essendon Primary School. They were joined by other children and their families from our local community, as well as some familiar faces from Nido.

Upon arrival, they met the teacher, Heather, who helped them find their name tags. The story explored today was Look! There’s Elmer. Throughout the story, the children were asked to give a thumbs up if they thought Elmer was hiding on the next page, or a thumbs down if they thought he wasn’t.

After the story, the children were invited to create their own colourful Elmer using glue and different pieces of paper. Once they had finished, some children chose to read more stories and engaged in conversations with Heather about some of the displays in the classroom.

When everyone had finished creating their pictures, they were invited to explore the new playground. The slide and monkey bars were popular choices among the children.

Thank you to Essendon Primary School for inviting us to join your Storytime today.

🦎🌿 Children's Voices Shaping Classroom 5's Environment 🦘

In Classroom 5, our learning journey continues to be guided by the interests, ideas and voices of the children.

Following our exploration of reptiles earlier this year, our ECT Bianca engaged the children in conversations about where they would like their learning to go next.

Through group discussions and shared decision-making, Educator Ashley invited the children to contribute their ideas for extending the project and transforming their learning environment.

The children enthusiastically shared their interest in Australian animals. Ashley then asked, "What do we need to create an Australian animal habitat?"

The children suggested lizards, koalas and kangaroos. They also identified features they felt were important to include, such as trees, grass, leaves, bark, mountains, caves and oceans. Max suggested adding "kangaroo footprints", while other children requested puzzles to support their investigations and play.

To further extend their learning, the children worked together to create red sand inspired by the images and landscapes they had observed in the books they had selected. This provided an opportunity for the children to connect their research and observations with hands-on learning experiences.

By listening to and acting upon children's ideas, educators have created a rich learning environment that reflects children's agency and promotes a sense of belonging and ownership within the classroom

🌱 Caring for Our Environment 🌱

Classroom 3’s current inquiry is focused on caring for plants and learning about the importance of looking after our environment. This week, we saw small groups of children exploring the service as they helped water our indoor plants with care and responsibility.

The children showed great teamwork and problem-solving skills throughout the experience. When water was accidentally spilt on the floor, the children quickly worked together to help clean it up, demonstrating a strong sense of responsibility and care for their learning environment.

Experiences like these support children in developing confidence, independence and respect for the world around them through meaningful, hands on learning. 🌿

⛑️ First Aid Training ⛑️

This week our team participated in First Aid and CPR refresher training to ensure our knowledge and skills remain current and up to date. Ongoing professional development like this supports our commitment to providing a safe, supportive and responsive environment for all children in our care.

We would also like to extend a huge thank you to Kelly from First Aid Ready for providing engaging, informative and quality training to our team. We appreciate the time and knowledge shared throughout the session.

Community walks are back! 🌿

Our children loved heading back out into the community, exploring the world around them with curious minds and busy little feet.

Along the way, we spotted local businesses, chatted about what we could see in our neighbourhood, and collected beautiful leaves and nature treasures to bring back to the service for further learning and play. πŸ‚

These adventures support children to build confidence, connection to their community, and an appreciation for the natural environment, all while having so much fun outdoors! We can’t wait for our next adventure. πŸ’›
