Today our toddlers explored a sensory tray filled with pom-poms, natural objects, feathers, and textured materials. They showed curiosity as they touched, sorted, and moved items, using words like “soft,” “bumpy,” and “smooth.”
They also practised counting by picking up pom-poms with tongs and saying numbers aloud, showing focus and persistence—even when items rolled away!
This hands-on play supported early numeracy, fine motor skills, language development, and sensory exploration.

🌊 World Ocean Day 🐠🐬
We celebrated World Ocean Day by learning about why our oceans are important and how we can help protect them. Children explored recycling using our food scrap bin, created ocean-themed artwork, and enjoyed under-the-sea music during group time. During group time, we listened to ocean-themed songs and music to continue our learning. We are proud of the children’s engagement and creativity throughout the day. 🌊 A fun and meaningful day of learning about caring for our environment 🌊

🐞 Minibeast Exploration in Our Nursery Room 🐞
Our curious little learners have been busy exploring the wonderful world of minibeasts! Through hands-on play, books, magnifying glasses, puzzles, and natural materials, children are discovering different insects and bugs while developing their observation, language, and fine motor skills.
This engaging learning space encourages children to investigate, ask questions, and build an appreciation for the tiny creatures that share our environment. 🌿🦋🐞
🐜🕷️
Yesterday the whole centre participated in a meaningful Smoking Ceremony, where they learned about an important Aboriginal cultural practice focused on cleansing, healing, reflection, and connection to Country and community.
The children engaged with curiosity and respect as they observed the smoke, listened to stories, and shared their thoughts with one another. This special experience supported children to build understanding, belonging, and appreciation for Aboriginal cultures and traditions while encouraging meaningful conversations about connection, respect, and reconciliation within our kindergarten community. 🤍
A big thank you to Uncle Shane for sharing this special cultural experience with us.

Reconciliation Week is here (27 May to 3 June)
This year’s theme, “All In”, reminds us that reconciliation is something we all take part in. It is about learning, showing respect, and making positive change together every day.
Across the week, children are taking part in learning experiences that deepen their understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and contributions, and help us reflect on how we can all play a part in reconciliation.
Let’s learn, listen and walk forward together.
