Aurora Doncaster has just been named one of the Top 10 Most Popular Childcare Centres in Victoria, ranked 3rd in the State, in the 2026 KindiCare Demand Index.

The Index measures which centres parents are searching for and viewing most. And to us, that means one thing: word is getting around.

Session Two of our Leadership Summit was called 'Building the House.' And that is precisely what we did.

We introduced the Aurora Strategic House, a framework that gave our strategy a structure and a home. Purpose. Values. Mission. Strategic Pillars. Vision. Every level co-authored by the room.

Then came the moment that moved us most: each Pillar owner stepped forward. Not because they were assigned to, but because the work mattered to them and they wanted to carry it.

That is leadership. And Aurora is full of it.

We didn't bring in consultants. We brought in our people. 🌿

At our Leadership Summit, we began with one honest question put to every table, then let the room do the work.

The thinking went onto the walls. Twenty-six people walked the room in silence, dot stickers in hand. No debate. Just quiet attention and an honest vote.

We call this a Gallery Walk. We use it with children in the Aurora Artelier: to teach them to see before they speak.

Turns out, it works just as well with leaders.

What came next was a Vision statement: drafted live, by four volunteers, in front of the whole room. No preparation. Just the accumulated thinking of everyone behind them.

A Vision earned by the people who will live it holds in a completely different way. 🌿

This is what 𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 looks like.

These are Indika and Alice, our Rowville and QV Kinder teachers, and two of the twenty-six leaders who gave their whole weekend to Aurora's future.

At our Leadership Summit, we deliberately mixed our tables: Studio Leaders alongside Finance, Educational Leaders alongside Compliance, Centre Managers alongside the people who keep Aurora running behind the scenes. We did this on purpose.

Because the best thinking doesn't happen in silos. And the best decisions about children's futures don't come from one type of expertise alone.

Indika and Alice brought their warm smiles, thoughtful perspectives and genuine care for others. The room was better for it.

We are incredibly fortunate to have people like them helping shape the future of Aurora. 🌿

What a wonderful evening at our 𝑨𝒖𝒓𝒐𝒓𝒂 𝑸𝑽 𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒏 𝑵𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 💛

Despite Melbourne turning on some wild weather, we were thrilled to welcome so many new families and their little ones through our doors. It was a special opportunity to connect, share our philosophy of mindful play and showcase what makes Aurora such a unique place to learn and grow.

From exploring our learning environments and meeting our passionate educators to sharing conversations, laughter and refreshments, the evening truly reflected the Aurora Way.

Ten years. A decade of mornings.

That’s what I find myself thinking about when I think about 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐤𝐚.

Ten years of small hands and big questions. Ten years of that laugh, the one that seems to arrive before she does and lingers long after she’s left the room. Ten years of showing up, day after day, with a kind of quiet devotion that doesn’t announce itself, but is felt by everyone around her.

As our beloved Willow Walk Kinder Teacher at Aurora Rowville, Indika has woven herself into the fabric of this community in ways that are impossible to fully measure. What sets her apart is something that begins even before a child walks through the door. Indika reaches out early, building warm, trusting relationships with families and children before they start in her kindergarten, so that by the time that first morning arrives, it doesn’t feel like a leap into the unknown. It feels like coming home.

That is a rare and beautiful gift.

Indika’s mindfulness is not simply a pedagogical approach, it is the very texture of how she moves through the world. It flows through her gestures, her listening, her presence. It is there in the way she pauses, the way she notices, the way she responds. She doesn’t practise mindfulness; she lives it, and everyone around her is quietly lifted by it.

She embodies our Aurora values of Connect, Care and Create not as a framework to follow, but as a way of being, instinctive, wholehearted, and unmistakably hers.

On behalf of myself and the entire Aurora family, thank you, Indika. For every child whose curiosity you’ve kindled. For every family you’ve reassured. For every colleague you’ve made feel less alone on a hard day.

Thank you, dear Indika, for shining the light of Aurora to everyone around you. We are so deeply glad you chose us, and we hope you know just how much you are cherished.
