We call on the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing - VIC to ACT TODAY to make sure the residents of Five Ways Caravan Park are provided with immediate assurance that they will not be ejected into homelessness in 8 weeks time.

Residents' uncertainty about their housing future is causing significant ill-health and must be alleviated immediately.

State government MP for Clarinda Meng Heang Tak MP has has only visited Five Ways once and did not return. Minister, the residents are waiting for your return now.

New Victorian Housing Minister Nick Staikos MP it is your responsibility to ensure Five Ways residents are provided a pathway out of homelessness that does not involve the indignity of crisis accommodation or rooming houses. Please coordinate a response to see that this occurs.

Kingston Council councillor Cr Caroline White - City of Kingston, Caruana Ward please visit the residents of Five Ways immediately and work with the state government to ensure your local residents are not ejected into homelessness.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Federal Housing and Homelessness Minister Clare O'Neil MP you have a once in a generation opportunity to ensure every single person in this country has access to permanent housing by embarking on a public housing programme across the country. It is only with public housing that we can be assured of affordable rents, security of tenure, and equitable access. This cannot be guaranteed by market providers. We think there is votes in this. Look around and see what's happening across our country. There is a tsunami of homelessness and people are crying out for you to do something about it.

Thanks to legacy media outlets for giving Five Ways a platform: The Age, Raf Epstein at ABC Melbourne and A Current Affair

Human Need not Developer Greed 💀

Demolition Partners in bed with billionaire developers are Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan and Victorian Housing Minister Nick Staikos MP gaslighting the Victorian community about our public assets.

Disgrace 🤢

04/06/2026

Mates - join the growing number of Melburnians coming together to defend our public housing inheritance from the snatches of our politicians, in bed with billionaire private developers - Australia's new Richie Riches.

There's a War On The Poor in this country and we are at a crossroads. If we stand by and watch Victorian Labor try to hoodwink us and our public housing tenants through media doublespeak and bullying behaviour, we won't see affordable, secure, publicly-owned housing in this city for a long time to come.

It's a once in a generation battle, with the tower demolitions the last attack in a multi-year program of neglect by political parties that have become profit-driven entities, in bed with the rich set.

The name of the game is greed and we are all set to lose if we don't join together and defend our assets. So get involved and join your local group that's busy on the ground and needs your help:

Councillor Olivia Ball is a champion of human rights and social justice. Olivia is what accountability and transparency looks like in local government here in Australia.

She is the only representative of the City of Melbourne who actually listened to the concerns and desires of a stigmatised community and their advocates, as well as over 850 Melburnians who signed our petition to call for the end of the Community Safety Officer program.

The City of Melbourne is far from a democratic institution, as Lord Mayor Nick Reece keeps boasting, when business owners get 2 VOTES at council elections and the whole place seems to have been co-opted by developers and retailers.

The most vulnerable members of our community here in Melbourne suffer as a consequence, where due diligence by the council is ignored. The approval to increase the CSO budget is a decision based on class by a bloated, seemingly smug set of councillors who are unrepresentative of the broader community that live and use the city. The City of Melbourne is in need of desperate reform. It is presently quite disgraceful.

But we will continue to hold the council to account on this program and on its overall approach to homelessness in our CBD, despite the disastrous decision on Tuesday night.
The council has still not:

- completed a thorough Victorian Charter of Human Rights assessment of the program
- had meaningful input from people currently homeless about the program
- conducted an independent evaluation of the first 6-months of the program

Despite the indifference towards or misrepresentation that has been put upon our friends and family who are homeless in the city, we will keep fighting.

Thank-you for your support.

Have a great day, Olivia Ball ❤️

Senator Lidia Thorpe always carries herself with integrity, and today was no different at the RALLY PARTY to stop the developer land grab of our public housing across Naarm/Melbourne. HANDS OFF! ☠️

The politicians are in cahoots and trying to give it all away for a buck! Here’s looking at you Jacinta Allan Nick Staikos MP You have lost your soul Victorian Labor You have let the people down.

The legacy media is no better, creating popcorn news out of significant public policy issues, absolutely no analysis, just sound bites. If it wasn’t so brainwashing, it would just be embarrassing 9 News Melbourne ABC Melbourne

But we the community need to STAND UP to our stinky politicians and their developer mates and save what’s ours. The rich get richer, while the poor cop it!
