Celebrating curiosity, collaboration, and the next generation of women in STEM.
Twenty-four of our Year 9 and 10 students recently represented Strathcona at the National Science and Engineering Challenge, held at Deakin University. Presented by the University of Newcastle, the National Science and Engineering Challenge is a nationwide STEM outreach program that brings together schools to inspire students through hands-on problem-solving.
Strathcona proudly placed third on our event day, marking the second year in a row our students have achieved this result.
As we recognise International Women in Engineering Day on 23 June, this achievement is a timely reminder of the importance of encouraging girls to explore, question, design and innovate. Our students are building the confidence and skills to help shape the future.

On Wednesday, our Strathcona community came together for the Old Strathconians Association's Careers Evening, a special opportunity for students to connect with alumnae and explore the many pathways life beyond school can take.
We are grateful to our Old Strathconians who generously shared their time, stories and insights across a wide range of industries and career journeys. Their reflections offered students valuable perspective, encouragement and a reminder that there is no single path to a meaningful future.
Evenings like this highlight the strength of our alumnae network and the importance of connection, and the role it plays in supporting students as they begin to shape their own futures.

Last week, a group of Strathcona students had the opportunity to present concepts from their CORAL Lab ‘AIdeas for Good’ challenge at HP ANZ Connect in Melbourne.
The CORAL Lab challenge, held a few weeks earlier, invited students working in cross-year groups to explore how artificial intelligence can be used to respond to real-world issues. Their ideas spanned areas such as mental health, care, connection, and decision-making. Throughout the experience, our students demonstrated thoughtful innovation, confidence, and a strong understanding of how technology can be used with purpose.
This opportunity reflects Strathcona’s commitment to future-ready learning, where students are encouraged to think critically, engage with emerging technologies and see themselves as capable innovators and problem-solvers.
We are proud of the way our students represented Strathcona and contributed to important conversations about the future of learning and leadership.

We are proud to celebrate our Deputy Head of Junior School, Eleni Kyritsis, who recently travelled to Papua New Guinea to support more than 300 educators from the International Education Agency of PNG.
Working alongside Using Technology Better, Eleni helped facilitate professional learning focused on the use of Microsoft 365 tools to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom. The program brought together passionate educators from across PNG, with the shared goal of strengthening digital capability and supporting meaningful learning opportunities for students.
Eleni’s involvement reflects Strathcona’s commitment to educational leadership, professional generosity and learning beyond our own community. Through this work, the knowledge shared with teachers has the potential to benefit more than 5,000 students across Papua New Guinea.
We are delighted to see Eleni represent Strathcona with such purpose, integrity, and care. Her work is a powerful example of leadership in action, and of the impact educators can have when they share their expertise in service of others.

Students and families are warmly invited to attend the Strathcona Careers Evening, hosted by the Old Strathconians Association.
Join us on Wednesday 17 June from 6.30pm to 9.00pm at our Senior School Campus. The evening will bring students together with members of our alumnae community to hear firsthand insights into a wide range of industries, careers and life beyond school.
This event is an opportunity for students to connect with alumnae who once stood where they are now, and who have since gone on to shape meaningful and diverse futures of their own.
Whether your daughter has a clear direction in mind, or is just beginning to explore what her future could look like, Careers Evening is a valuable opportunity to discover possibilities, build confidence and network with our Strathcona community.
We encourage current students and families to attend and make the most of this special event.

We were proud to be featured in The Age’s Independent Schools Guide over the weekend, highlighting Strathcona Girls Grammar’s approach to AI in innovative and future-focused learning.
The feature includes insights from Kara Baxter, Deputy Principal - Learning and Teaching, highlighting how artificial intelligence is being embedded across the learning journey, not just as a tool, but as a way to strengthen critical thinking, creativity and informed decision making.
The article also explores how our students are engaging with AI in practical and purposeful ways through the CORAL Lab, from modelling data and designing solutions, to questioning outputs and considering the ethical considerations of emerging technologies.
At Strathcona, preparing students for the future means giving them more than access to new technologies. It means building the confidence to question, create and lead in a rapidly evolving world.
