🤓 The students were absolutely having a blast.

Thank you to the Marine Mammal Foundation for joining us and taking the students on a deep dive into the diverse marine environment in Victoria, and the amazing creatures that call it home.🐬

👏Looking forward to the next sessions!

Congratulations to the team of Darren L, Ryan W, and Jacob P (from left to right) who received a Distinction Award in the Singapore International Maths and Computational Challenge.

This invite-only competition brought together 63 schools from 28 countries to solve a problem set by mathematicians from the National University of Singapore. Our team achieved an outstanding result, finishing equal second behind the winning team from the Korean Science Academy.

A brilliant result and a proud moment for JMSS!

At JMSS, our mission goes beyond supporting students in secondary STEM education. We are equally passionate about delivering and promoting high-quality education in , , and innovation to the wider community.

One of our flagship outreach programs, Emerging Science Victoria (ESV), reflects this commitment deeply. ESV is a live, interactive online STEM learning platform designed for regional Victorian Year 9 and 10 students.

As a fully virtual program, produced and delivered from our purposefully built studio within the school, ESV provides students, particularly those in regional areas, with access to advanced STEM learning and expertise that may not otherwise be available locally. It has been running for over 10 years, supporting thousands of students across Victoria.

📢 Semester 2, 2026 enrolments are now open.

🙌Discover, connect, and explore!

Last week, we welcomed over 800 attendees to our annual Science Exhibition Night, and what an incredible evening it was! The energy was high, and every room was brimming with discussion, curiosity, and fun. It was wonderful to see our students proudly share their work and to see our community come together to celebrate learning and achievement.

At JMSS, we’re proud to create a dynamic environment where science truly comes to life through interactive and engaging experiences.

🫶Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the night so special. Your support means so much to us! We can’t wait to continue inspiring and connecting through science.

👀Our latest lunchtime STEM snippet got a little spicy. 🧬

We welcomed Dr. Simone Li from the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute, who took us on a fascinating journey into the human microbial world.

While our students munched through their delicious lunches, Dr. Li shared her eye-opening research on faecal microbiota transplantation, investigating how this process reshapes the gut microbiome and whether it can be linked to patient recovery.

Let’s just say… it made for a very memorable lunch break🤓.

🚀Last week, a group of our JMSS female students had the privilege of meeting Katherine Bennell‑Pegg, the and Australia’s first professional astronaut 👨🏼‍🚀, during her visit to Monash University's Clayton campus.

The event featured a panel discussion moderated by Professor Larry James, Professor of Practice in Space Innovation at Monash University, alongside Katherine and Dr. Megan Clark AC, Chancellor of Monash University.

Dr. Clark highlighted Katherine as an inspiring role model for young people, encouraging the next generation to reach for their dreams while helping elevate Australia’s ambitions in space. As the inaugural head of the Australian Space Agency, Dr. Clark also expressed strong optimism about the future of Australia’s role in space exploration. The session sparked meaningful and engaging conversations, empowering our students to explore careers, embrace opportunities, and dream boldly about the future of space exploration.

Later in the day, our students also had the opportunity to visit the Monash Engineering Makerspace, where Monash student teams are designing and building technologies in rocketry, robotics, and high-altitude systems.

🤩The overall experience was truly a dream come true for our students.🤩

👏Thank you to our valued partner, Monash University, for providing this incredible opportunity.
