As part of Unit 1 VCE Theatre Studies, Cornish students interpreted a pre-1945 script through their own production of Little Women.

Through creativity, collaboration and performance, our Year 10 students brought the stage to life, planning, developing and presenting every aspect of the production themselves. From direction, set design and props to costumes, sound and lighting, students showcased their talents both on and off the stage.

Watching these two interact was something truly special.

While there may be a noticeable age difference, what stood out most was the genuine connection they shared. Through our Buddy Program, friendships are formed that go far beyond the classroom, creating opportunities for students to learn from one another, support each other and simply enjoy spending time together.

The laughter, conversation and ease with which they connected was a beautiful reminder that meaningful relationships can flourish at any age. Moments like these help foster a strong sense of belonging and community, where every student feels seen, valued and connected.πŸ’™

Years 8 & 9 Design Futures students went beyond the classroom!

Our students embarked on an unforgettable wilderness adventure along the Two Bays Walking Trail. Over two days they hiked 20 kilometres through the Mornington Peninsula National Park, camped under the stars at Running Creek and embraced the challenges that come with life in the outdoors.

Through our Challenge by Choice philosophy, students were encouraged to step outside their comfort zones, build resilience, develop confidence and support one another every step of the way. From practical hiking and camping skills to teamwork, decision-making and personal growth, this experience was learning in its most authentic form.

We're incredibly proud of the way our students embraced the challenge and the opportunities that come from learning beyond the classroom.

High ability learners don't simply need more work β€” they need learning that is different, purposeful and designed to help them thrive.

At Cornish College, our I-AM program brings together curious minds, creative thinkers and students ready to explore ideas beyond the expected. Through authentic challenges, real-world problem solving and collaboration across year levels, students are encouraged to think deeply, question boldly and imagine what is possible.

What makes I-AM unique is the balance between challenge and wellbeing. Students are supported to embrace their strengths, pursue their passions and develop the confidence to say:

I am capable.
I am curious.
I am creative.
I am aiming high.

Because every learner deserves the opportunity to realise their potential and make a positive difference in the world. 🌱

The start of Term 2 saw our Industry and Enterprise students celebrate the fruits of their labour, harvesting more than 70 pumpkins across a range of varieties from the Cornish grounds.

Most of the harvest was sold to the local community through , with the profits reinvested into our grounds to support future infrastructure projects and sustainability initiatives across the campus. It's a wonderful example of students experiencing the full cycle of enterprise, from planting and growing through to marketing, sales and reinvestment.

For the remaining pumpkins, students swapped shovels, rakes and chisels for aprons, knives and spoons, joining forces with our Food Technology Technician to cook up a storm in the kitchen. From paddock to plate, students gained valuable hands-on experience while enjoying the rewards of their hard work.

Learning comes to life when students can see the real-world impact of their efforts, and this project is a perfect example of that in action. πŸŽƒπŸŒ±
