🍯🧁 Honey Joys Fun in the Kitchen! 🧁🍯
Our children in Kinder 2 became little chefs as they made delicious Honey Joys with Sumaiya and Dilpreet.
They explored ingredients, practised measuring and mixing, and learnt about sequencing while following the recipe together.
The experience encouraged teamwork, fine motor development, and early maths and science skills—all while having lots of fun!
✨ Learning is always sweeter when it's hands-on! 💛

A group of children from the Toddler-2 room were checking the strawberry patch in the garden when they noticed a few strawberries were still green. “They’re not ready yet,” one child commented. As they continued looking, they found two half-ripened strawberries that had been eaten from the bottom.
Curiosity quickly sparked a discussion about what might have happened. “Maybe a snail ate it,” one child suggested. “Or a caterpillar,” another child replied. The children carefully examined the strawberries and shared their ideas. One child then playfully mentioned the name of a classmate, wondering if they might have eaten them.
The children were engaged in meaningful conversation, using their observations to make predictions, share theories, and build on each other’s thinking as they investigated the mystery of the eaten strawberries.

International Yoga Day is celebrated every year on 21st of June to raise global awareness about the profound physical, mental, and spiritual benefits of practicing yoga, and to foster harmony between humanity and nature.
Today, we engaged the children in a yoga experience that promoted relaxation, physical movement, and mindfulness. We began the session with deep breathing exercises, encouraging the children to focus on their breathing and helping them feel calm and prepared for the activity.
The children then participated in a variety of yoga poses, including butterfly pose and chair pose, along with several stretching exercises. These activities supported the development of their balance, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness. To make the session more engaging and enjoyable, we incorporated music, which helped maintain the children's interest and encouraged active participation.
The children responded positively to the yoga session, following instructions well and demonstrating enthusiasm while attempting different poses. This experience provided opportunities for children to develop self-regulation skills, enhance their physical wellbeing, and build confidence in their movements. Overall, the yoga activity was a successful and enjoyable experience that supported both the children's physical and emotional development.

Nursery educator Geetika, created an engaging under the sea learning experience in the room to inspire children's curiosity and imagination about marine life. The setup included a variety of sea animal figures, shells, and natural leaves arranged to represent an underwater environment. The natural materials added texture and sensory elements, encouraging children to explore, observe, and discuss different aspects of ocean habitats.
The experience supported imaginative play, sensory exploration, and opportunities for inquiry-based learning as children discovered and talked about the underwater world.

Autumn’s 🍂 Leaf Painting
The children from the nursery room spent time exploring the nursery yard. While playing outdoors, they noticed dried leaves scattered on the ground. The children eagerly picked up the leaves and began throwing them in the air, at each other, and at the educators, creating a fun and engaging experience.
Observing the children's interest in the leaves, the educator extended the learning by providing paper, glue, and brushes. The children were encouraged to collect some leaves from the yard and use them to create leaf collages. They carefully gathered leaves, demonstrating both gross motor skills through walking, bending, and collecting, and fine motor skills by picking up and handling the leaves.
The children used brushes to spread glue onto their paper before placing the leaves on top. They created unique patterns and designs. Throughout the activity, the children showed concentration, creativity, and enthusiasm as they explored the textures, shapes, and colours of the natural materials.

Good afternoon families,
This week, Kinder 1 children actively participated in a.planting experience in our outdoor gardening box.
Before engaging in the hands on planting, we discussed what planting means, what plants need to grow, including soil, water, sunlight, care, the process of planting step by step, and the reason that we need to do planting. At the end they drew what they need for planting in the floor book.
While planting, the children explored the seeds, described their size and shape, and shared their prior knowledge about vegetables and herbs they eat at home. They carefully filled pots with soil, planted the seeds, covered them with soil, and watered them. Throughout the experience, the children demonstrated curiosity, enthusiasm, and a sense of responsibility for caring for living things.
Through this experience, the children developed respect for the natural environment and understand their role in caring for living things. They learned that plants require ongoing care and began to appreciate where food comes from. The children worked collaboratively, shared resources, and supported each other during the planting process by passing the shovel, giving each other turns, bringing the water containers from the sand pit and calling each other to participate in the experience.
They engaged in inquiry-based learning as they predicted what would happen to the seeds and discussed the conditions needed for growth. They used problem-solving skills while handling materials and demonstrated persistence and concentration throughout the activity. The experience supported children's understanding of cause and effect as they explored how their actions influence plant growth.
The children used language to share observations, ask questions, and express ideas about gardening. They engaged in meaningful conversations about seeds, plants, and growth.
The children successfully engaged in this learning and developed their understanding of the natural world.
The children demonstrated curiosity, cooperation, and growing knowledge about how plants grow and how to care for them.

Saving our world.

World Environment Day is celebrated on June 5 every year to remind people about the importance of nature. It is celebrated across the globe to tell people that nature should not be taken for granted and must be respected for its values. To help us to understand the various ways that we can help to look after or world, today we talked about recycling.
First, we watched a video about the difference between recycling and rubbish. Shazie showed a recycling symbol and a rubbish bin symbol, and we discussed the concept that recycling is when we can make new things from old ones. It is a hard concept to understand, and we will need lots of practice as even some adults still get recycling wrong, but Shazie had an activity for us.
In the middle of the table was a basket with both rubbish and recycling items in it. On each side of the basket was an empty basket, one for recycling and one for rubbish. Each basket had pictures of what items could be placed into it. We took it in turns to sort out the things. It was lots of practice, and we had to try and think if we could make something new from the object in our hand but as we grow, we will deepen our understanding and help to care for our world.
The children explored the difference between recycling and rubbish as they showed a growing appreciation and care for the natural and constructed environment.
The children enjoyed the activity with some continuing to sort the items until the box was empty. It did tend to become more of a matching game with the concept that an item can be recycled if it can be made into something new reinforce with every item placed in the recycling box but was a good introduction to a concept that th children will need to use throughout their life.

Exploring Numbers Through Play
Today, the children in Toddler 2 participated in a number counting and sorting activity using mushroom pictures with numbers and dot patterns. They used gum nuts, small rocks, wooden numbers, and bean bags to count and match with the correct mushroom numbers.
Through the activity, children developed their basic numeracy skills. Some children were able to identify and name specific numbers such as 1 and 2, count from 1 to 5, and match bean bags to the corresponding mushroom cardboard numbers.
Children demonstrated curiosity and creativity as they explored the numbers. They enjoyed naming some numbers independently and practised repeating others with educator support. Most children were able to match the correct numbers.
This activity was a great way to challenge children to focus, sort, and complete a set task. The experience supported the development of hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and problem-solving skills.
The activity also supported the development of early numeracy skills through hands-on exploration and educator support. Children are beginning to recognise and match numbers confidently, showing a growing understanding of number concepts and patterns.
The children displayed great interest in exploring numbers during the matching activity. All children participated in matching the bean bags and gum nuts to the mushroom numbers.
Sorting activities help toddlers develop number recognition, fine motor skills, and hand-eye coordination. The children were engaged throughout the experience and enjoyed exploring numbers through play.

Dear Jessie and Team at Goodstart Regent Street
I hope you are all well.
I wanted to write this email simply to say thank you.
A few weeks ago, I was fortunate to receive the City of Whittlesea Citizen of the Year Award for the work of Miles for Happy Smiles Mobile Dental Services. It was a wonderful honour, but more than anything, it made me stop and think about all the people who have helped make this journey possible over the years.
Your team was one of the first that came to mind.
Every time our van visits your centre, you welcome us with such warmth and kindness. You make time in an already busy day, help organise the children, reassure those who are nervous and make the whole experience easier for everyone. These things might seem small, but they are a huge part of why our visits are successful.
Over the years, I have come to appreciate just how much educators do. Comforting, encouraging and celebrating the little achievements of the children. I see that every time I visit, and I have so much respect for the work you do.
Thank you for believing in the importance of children's oral health and for trusting us with your families. Because of your support, thousands of children have had a positive first experience at the dentist, and I genuinely believe that will stay with many of them for life.
I just wanted you to know that your support has meant a great deal to me. I am truly grateful, and I hope we will continue working together for many years to come.
With sincere thanks,
Dr. Swati Sharma
