🌿🌏 Wayapa Wuurrk Incursion – Connecting with Nature and Wellbeing 🌏🌿

Today, our children participated in a wonderful Wayapa Wuurrk incursion, an educational program that supports children and educators in developing a holistic connection with the Earth and their own wellbeing.

Wayapa Wuurrk is inspired by Indigenous knowledge and the wisdom of ancient cultures from Australia and around the world. It teaches that caring for the environment is the foundation of caring for ourselves. Through engaging activities, the children explored the importance of respecting and protecting nature while learning how their actions can positively impact the world around them.

The session combined earth mindfulness, storytelling, narrative meditation, physical movement, and earth reciprocity, providing children with meaningful opportunities to slow down, connect with nature, and reflect on their relationship with the environment. The children enthusiastically participated in movement-based activities, listened to stories that encouraged environmental awareness, and learned simple ways they can help care for our planet every day.

Experiences like these help foster a sense of belonging, responsibility, gratitude, and respect for the natural world. By nurturing these values from an early age, we are supporting children to become mindful, caring, and environmentally conscious individuals.

We are grateful for this enriching experience and the valuable lessons it brought to our learning community. πŸŒ±πŸ’š

🌳 Toddler 1's Excursion to the Park 🌳

Today, Toddler 1 had a wonderful adventure at the park! During the excursion, they enjoyed exploring the playground, climbing, sliding, balancing, and running around with friends. The children demonstrated confidence as they challenged themselves on different play equipment and practised their gross motor skills through active play.

As part of their walk, the group stopped at the community vegetable garden, where they observed a variety of vegetables, herbs, and plants growing. The children showed curiosity as they looked closely at the different leaves, colours, and textures, and engaged in conversations about how vegetables grow and where our food comes from. This provided a valuable opportunity to connect with nature and learn about caring for the environment.

The children also took time to sit and relax in the open outdoor space, enjoying the fresh air and peaceful surroundings. They observed the trees swaying, listened to the sounds of birds, and shared conversations with their peers and educators. These quiet moments encouraged mindfulness, social interaction, and an appreciation for the natural environment.

Overall, the excursion was a meaningful learning experience that supported physical development, social skills, language development, curiosity, and a sense of connection to the local community.

πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈπŸ¦Ί Kinder 2 Excursion Adventure! πŸ¦ΊπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈ

Our Kinder 2 children recently enjoyed an exciting excursion, putting their learning into practice as they explored the local community.

Before setting off, the children participated in meaningful road safety discussions and activities. Together, they learned about the importance of staying with the group, listening to educators, using pedestrian crossings, stopping and looking before crossing roads, and being aware of their surroundings. These important lessons helped build their confidence and understanding of how to stay safe in the community.

During the excursion, the children demonstrated excellent listening skills, responsibility, and teamwork. Wearing their bright safety vests with pride, they followed road safety procedures and showed great awareness as they navigated their surroundings.

Excursions provide valuable opportunities for children to connect their learning with real-world experiences, develop independence, build confidence, and strengthen their understanding of community safety. We are so proud of how respectful, responsible, and engaged our Kinder 2 children were throughout the experience!

What a fantastic day of learning, exploring, and growing together! 🌟

🐣✨ A Very Special Visitor at Story House McKillop Way! ✨🐣

This weeks, our children have had the incredible opportunity to participate in the Henny Penny Hatching Program, and what an amazing learning experience it has been!

Watching the chicks hatch from their eggs right before our eyes was truly magical. The children were filled with excitement, curiosity, and wonder as they observed each stage of the hatching process. This hands-on experience provided valuable opportunities to learn about life cycles, growth, responsibility, and caring for living things.

The arrival of the fluffy little chicks sparked meaningful conversations, encouraged questions and investigations, and helped foster empathy and respect for animals. There were plenty of smiles, excitement, and unforgettable moments shared as the children watched the chicks grow and explore their new surroundings.

Experiences like these create lasting memories and inspire a lifelong love of learning and discovery. We feel so fortunate to bring these special opportunities to our children and families.

πŸ’› Thank you, Henny Penny Hatching, for helping us create such a memorable and educational experience!

We are incredibly grateful to receive feedback like this from our families at Story House McKillop Way.

🌟 The StoryHouse McKillop Way branch provides extremely high quality care and programs for my child. The staff are all very friendly and give detailed accounts of what the children do throughout the day. They are always communicating to parents their plans for programs, food, theme days and play spaces. The food they eat always looks really yummy and is presented beautifully. My child even likes the reception area because they have a fish tank in the corner and there are displays which change throughout the year. The outdoor playgrounds are fun but also private, as they cannot be seen by people passing by the building, so you don't have to worry about strangers watching your children. The children have a garden that they help tend to as well. Sometimes parents can even bring produce home! I recently moved further away into a new home but still keep my child at the McKillop Way branch of StoryHouse EarlyLearning because I think they are the best and even the kindergartens closer to my home will not be able to meet the extremely high standards the McKillop Way branch has set. Well done everyone! Thank you for proving a most excellent service! 🌟

Knowing that our children feel safe, happy, and excited to come to our service each day means the world to us. Hearing that families value the care, communication, learning experiences, nutritious meals, engaging environments, and the dedication of our educators reminds us why we do what we do.

Every day, our team works hard to create meaningful experiences, foster strong relationships, and provide a warm, welcoming environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. Feedback like this is a wonderful reminder of the positive impact we can have on the lives of children and their families.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing families for their trust, support, and kind words. We are honoured to be part of your children's learning journey and look forward to continuing to create special memories together. πŸ’™
