🍽️ National Waiters & Waitresses Day | 21 May
While this day began in the US, its message is universal - celebrating the people who bring hospitality to life every day.
At ERDI Academy, we know that behind every great dining experience is a team balancing speed, care and attention to detail - all while creating memorable moments for every guest.
✨ Fun fact: the word “waiter” dates back to the 14th century, originally meaning “one who watches or attends” a perfect reflection of modern hospitality, where anticipation and service go hand in hand.
We’re proud to support the next generation of hospitality professionals through our Inclusive Industry Bootcamp “RISE” an entry point into Food & Beverage careers, delivered in real hotel environments.
Participants gain hands-on experience in:
🍽️ Food & Beverage service
🤝 Guest interaction & customer service
💳 POS/EFTPOS systems
☕ Espresso coffee basics
🏨 Real hotel operations & industry exposure
Because every great career in hospitality starts with a first step and the right support can turn that step into something long-term and rewarding.

At ERDI Academy, learning doesn’t stop at the classroom - it comes to life in real hotel environments every day. 💙
Through our partnership with Novotel Geelong, students are immersed in live operations, gaining hands-on experience and a true understanding of what exceptional hospitality looks like.
Leading the way is Scott Bear, General Manager of Novotel Geelong. With over 10 years of experience across midscale and luxury properties, Scott brings a people-first leadership style focused on strong teams and standout guest experiences.
As part of his commitment to developing future talent, Scott has supported five team members to undertake the Diploma of Hospitality Management at ERDI Academy - creating real pathways for growth within his own team.
“Investing in our people is key to delivering great hospitality. Partnering with ERDI Academy gives our team the chance to build practical skills while learning in a real, fast-paced hotel environment,” Scott shares.
Partnerships like this ensure students don’t just learn hospitality - they live it. ✨
