Meet G” Force Grant Smith
Bringing live rhythms to the dance floor !

Grant Smith is a Melbourne-based percussionist whose musical journey spans more than three decades. A self-taught contemporary percussionist, he performs on a unique custom-built hardwood percussion setup handcrafted from Australian timbers, creating organic rhythms that blend groove, texture and improvisation.

Beginning his professional career in the late 1990s, Grant has performed across Australia and internationally through projects including PAN, Katamaran, TnG and Mista Savona, sharing stages with artists such as Lee “Scratch” Perry, Horace Andy, Prince Alla, The Abyssinians and The Congos.

Today, Grant channels this wealth of experience into immersive rhythmic journeys that invite presence, movement, connection and collective expression. Brendan O’Connor - evoking the trance

Brendan Is an Irish-born professional dancer, performer, and somatic dance therapist based in Melbourne. Trained in the Netherlands, he has performed throughout Europe, Southeast Asia, India, and Australia, bringing over 20 years of experience in movement, improvisation, breathwork, and embodied practice.

His work has been deeply influenced by traditional performance cultures across Indonesia, particularly the trance dance traditions of East Java. Fifteen years ago, he was invited to participate in a traditional Bull Trance ceremony, becoming the first Westerner welcomed into this sacred community practice. Central to the ritual is the crack of the whip, accompanied by frankincense, powerful drumming, and rhythms that invite participants into a deeper connection with instinct, spirit, and collective energy through dance.

At the heart of Brendan’s work is the belief that dance is medicine. Through movement, he supports the release of tension, the cultivation of presence, and the awakening of creativity, vitality, and self-awareness. He has worked with neurodiverse children, aged-care communities, and performers, helping people reconnect with confidence, expression, and embodied wellbeing.

There is something that happens when we gather to dance.

The layers begin to fall away.
The stories loosen their grip.
The body remembers.

Not who we should be…
but who we are beneath it all.

This Friday, RIVKA takes us on a journey through sound, rhythm and feeling, creating a space to move what has been waiting to move and express what words cannot.

Authentically free
No pretence.
Just a room full of humans meeting themselves and each other in motion.

Come as you are , create some shapes
Dance your joy, your grief, your fire, your tenderness.

The dance floor can hold it all.

Friday night at Our Lady’s Hall.
See you in the dance.
🤍
