🔥 A Special Moment of Connection and Respect 🔥

Recently, our children, families, and educators had the privilege of participating in a Smoking Ceremony on Bunurong Country.

The Smoking Ceremony is a significant Aboriginal cultural practice that has been used for thousands of years to cleanse, heal, and connect people to Country. Through the gentle smoke, we were invited to reflect on the importance of respect, belonging, and our shared responsibility to care for the land on which we learn and play.

This meaningful experience provided an opportunity for our children to engage with First Nations culture in an authentic and respectful way. Through listening, observing, and participating, the children deepened their understanding of Aboriginal traditions and the importance of connection to Country, community, and culture.

At our service, we are committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our everyday practice and creating opportunities for children to develop respect, curiosity, and appreciation for the world’s oldest living culture.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who supported and shared this special experience with us. Together, we continue our journey of learning, reconciliation, and connection.

🖤💛❤️

We acknowledge the Bunurong People of the Kulin Nation as the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn and play. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Following our Yarn Strong Sista Professional Development Evening with Annette Sax, our educators have been busy extending this learning with the children.

Using natural materials such as leaves, bark, gum nuts, stones, and native plants, children have been exploring creative experiences that encourage curiosity, connection to nature, and an appreciation for Country. Through storytelling, art, discussions, and hands-on exploration, we are continuing to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our everyday program in meaningful and respectful ways.

These experiences support children to develop a deeper understanding of culture, belonging, and the importance of caring for the land on which we live, learn, and play.

We are proud to continue our reconciliation journey alongside our children, families, and community. ❤️🖤💛

As part of our ongoing reconciliation journey, our team recently spent time connecting with Country, surrounded by the beauty of the natural environment.

For us, Country is more than the land beneath our feet. It is about connection, relationships, belonging, and respect for the people, plants, animals, and stories that have cared for this land for generations.

These moments of reflection help strengthen our understanding and commitment to creating meaningful learning opportunities for children, while embedding respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures into our everyday practice.

Together, we continue to learn, listen, and grow. 🖤💛❤️

We love capturing those beautiful moments where educators and children lay together looking into the clouds, sharing conversations, imagination, and wonder. Moments like these help build connection, curiosity, and a sense of belonging within our learning environment.
