π±π Bunnings Incursion at Kindergarten ππ±
Our 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten children enjoyed a wonderful visit from Chantelle from Bunnings this week!
Chantelle introduced the children to the importance of composting and how food scraps and garden waste can be turned into nutrient-rich compost to help plants grow. The children were fascinated as they learned about worms and the important role they play in keeping our environment healthy.
A highlight of the session was watching Chantelle demonstrate how to create a worm farm. The children eagerly asked questions and shared their ideas about caring for worms and reducing waste. We are excited to begin our own worm farm in our outdoor learning area and continue exploring sustainability practices together.
A big thank you to Chantelle and Bunnings for providing such an engaging and hands-on learning experience for our kindergarten community! πΏπ

The Big Group Hug is in urgent need of childrenβs items of 6+ year old children. If you can please donate at the closest location or to our centre and we can do drop offs!
WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP.
Right now, our shelves, tubs and storage areas are running critically low. In some categories, they're almost empty.
We're urgently seeking donations of quality preloved and new children's items, with a particular need for winter clothing for children aged 6+, cot and bassinette linen, and new toiletries.
Every day, health and welfare professionals refer children to Big Group Hug who need clothing, shoes, books, baby equipment, toiletries, bedding, and other everyday essentials. But right now, we're struggling to keep up with demand.
If you've been meaning to clear out the cupboard or pass on items your children have outgrown, now is the time.
Please note: We do not need portacots or baby baths at the moment.
Even if you don't have items to donate, you can still help. We're asking if you can:

Colourful Construction Fun! ππΊπ¦
Our little learners enjoyed exploring colourful foam blocks, cylinders and shape panels as they built, stacked, carried and created together. Through their play, the children were recognising and identifying colours such as red, yellow, blue, green and purple, while also exploring different shapes including circles, triangles, squares and stars.
Educators supported the learning by modelling shape and colour language, asking open-ended questions such as "What shape can you see?" and "What colour block would you like next?"
As they experimented with how the pieces fit together, they developed problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, coordination and confidence.
"Everyday is an opportunity to learn and grow through play!" β¨π
