As Australia marks National Reconciliation Week and the AIATSIS Summit 2026, our researchers are contributing to important conversations about truth-telling, healing and Indigenous-led futures.

One of those voices is Jesse Fleay, whose latest article explores why truth-telling processes must be grounded in First Nations leadership to create meaningful change.

Monash researchers are also presenting work on access to records for Stolen Generations survivors, and on cultural fire practices and community wellbeing.

Yesterday, researchers, clinicians, policymakers and health sector leaders came together for the Monash Women and Children’s Health Research Summit 2026.

Hosted by Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and Health through the Monash Health Translation Precinct, the summit highlighted research helping improve prevention, diagnosis and care across women’s and children’s health.

Discussions focused on some of the most significant and fast-moving areas in health research today – including endometriosis and pelvic pain, menopause, metabolic health, reproductive health, autism and ADHD.

Across the precinct, researchers and clinicians are contributing to advances that are shaping healthcare, informing policy and improving outcomes for women, children and families in Australia and around the world.

Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation and shared their expertise.

Today we gathered as a community to mark National Sorry Day – a time to pause and reflect on the profound harm caused by the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families and communities, now known as the Stolen Generations.

As National Reconciliation Week begins, this year’s theme – “All In” – calls on every Australian to support reconciliation through both intention and action. It’s a powerful reminder that reconciliation is not passive; it requires all of us to engage, to listen deeply and to contribute to meaningful change.

We’ll observe National Reconciliation Week from Wednesday 27 May to Wednesday 3 June. This important period offers our staff, students and broader community an opportunity to deepen understanding of our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to reflect on the role each of us can play in advancing reconciliation.
