Philosophy Statement:

Love For Tots Family Day Care offers a high quality education and care service through a stimulating learning environment and an Emergent Curriculum that upholds my personal belief that all children are capable, competent and learn the most by building positive relationships among the people around them. I apply the socio-constructivism theory in my teaching, learning and environment which is based entirely on the belief that knowledge is constructed through social interaction with others, where children learn best when they engage in meaningful learning opportunities when shared with their peers (Vygotsky). The Reggio Emilia principles and pedagogy greatly influence my curriculum, environment and how I see children as competent learners, fully capable of self-exploration and self-discovery to facilitate their own learning. Children are given their time and space, with their “one hundred languages” respected, keenly observed, heard and considered to be able to provide a child-centred program based on their interests that will satiate their curiosity through meaningful learning experiences. I view neurodiversity not as a challenge, but as a tapestry of diverse strengths and perspectives that enrich our learning community. In my approach, I am firmly rooted in a strength-based philosophy. I believe in unlocking the potential within every child, providing them with an inclusive and nurturing environment where they can not only learn but also thrive. I celebrate the individuality of each child, valuing their distinctive qualities and abilities. By fostering an environment that respects and supports neurodiversity, I aim to empower every child to embark on a meaningful and fulfilling journey throughout their early years and beyond. Love For Tots Family Day Care has a strong commitment to providing high quality child care where the needs of all the children and families enrolled are met. I will achieve this by providing a safe, nurturing environment, giving respect to the families’ cultural differences and diversity, philosophy and the child’s own individuality. I believe that all children are unique individuals who learn and develop through the process of play and exploration based on curriculum planning guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards and the core beliefs of the Reggio Emilia Approach in learning and teaching.
