I love my Alexa as they really help me have serene mornings, bedtimes and stop me forgetting what I’m doing.

When you’ve got an ADHD squirrel brain or maybe a dopamine hunting feature in there, it’s so easy to get sucked into a device when you don’t know what to do with yourself.
I have a trick of changing my environment to stop myself from falling/escaping into the doom scroll.
Today needed a cafe instead of home. Sometimes another room or chair does it.
Have you tried switching your place or space to circuit break the scroll?
What do you do when you first open your eyes in a morning? And just before you close them to go to sleep at night?
Does it involve your phone?
Give your brain and conscious a sacred break.
Leave your phone out of the bedroom.

We haven’t got a chance of circuit breaking the way we reach for our phone all the time, or the way we react to others, if we can’t pause.
And it’s way harder than it sounds.

Great advice someone wise gave me. But it takes moment by moment awareness and effort and a load of time to build the skill.
See if you can pause more often to act and react from a more serene and peaceful place. That’s what I’m doing this glorious winter Sunday in Melbourne.
I dare you. Smile and say hello to a bunch of people out and about today and see how it feels.
Watch out when you’re tired after work. Transition and flat moments of the day can be easily filled with screens but they don’t soothe in a nourishing way.
So have a little bit of screen time, then get outta there and rest in another way.
What if we could show up in our lives without the resentments and hurts that we pick up over the years? Who would we be? That’s what my spiritual work has allowed me…to look at it all and leave it in the past.
Then, only then, can we show up today from a place of presence and true love.
Scrolling and screens take away our ability to be with and notice the little things. Little moments of joy. Like a cute cup.
Give yourself the gift of time and see what joy you can find in the moment.
Just like I found it in the mug cupboard at work! It’s everywhere - wherever you are. X
