The Loris Coleman Scholarship | Open to NEW students entering Year 11 in 2027
A new Scholarship named in honour of Loris Coleman (Class of 1912), a pioneering Korovian whose many ‘firsts’ helped shape the School’s early history, this scholarship recognises exceptional academic achievement and a spirit of intellectual curiosity. Loris was Korowa’s first Head Prefect, Dux of the School, our first university entrant, and among the first women to enrol at Trinity College at the University of Melbourne. Her legacy is one of scholarship, initiative and quiet determination.
This scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding academic ability, a genuine love of learning, and the capacity to think deeply and independently. We seek a student who is motivated not only to achieve at the highest level, but to engage with ideas, challenge assumptions, and pursue excellence across her studies.
The successful applicant will be eager to take full advantage of Korowa’s academic and enrichment opportunities, and to contribute to the intellectual life of the School. In the spirit of Loris Coleman, she will show the potential to lead through her thinking, to embrace new challenges, and to create her own ‘firsts’ both within and beyond the classroom.

Archbishop's Student Forum
Our Year 9 students and Reverend Kirsten Winkett recently travelled to St Paul's Cathedral, the same place where we held our Founders' Day Service earlier this year, after being invited to attend an Anglican Schools Student Forum hosted by the Archbishop of Melbourne and the Melbourne Anglican Foundation.
The forum brought together students from Anglican schools across Melbourne, Geelong, and regional Victoria as part of a wider diocesan process of listening and discernment, as the Diocese reflects on the future life of the Church.
The day was designed to create space for students to be heard, providing an opportunity to share their experiences of faith, their questions about the Church, and their hopes for the future.

Last Friday, we welcomed former student leaders back for our first Head Prefect/ School Captains Reunion. In preparation for the event, we took a deep dive into Korowa's archives and uncovered some fascinating stories from our 136-year history.
From our first Head Prefect, Loris Coleman in 1912 to the first mother and daughter to both become Head Prefect and Dux of the School, the records revealed a legacy of leadership spanning generations. We also discovered that Sue Nattrass AO remains the only Korovian to have achieved the unique distinction of serving as Vice Head Prefect in 1957, and Head Prefect in 1958 as well as being Dux of the School.
Enjoy some of the highlights from Korowa's extraordinary history of student leadership. Korovians present ranged from the Class of 1959 to the School Co-Captains of 2026 – a span of 67 years.

Congratulations Anna Xue on being selected to represent Australia at the 2026 Future Problem Solving International Finals in the United States.
The Future Problem Solving Program is an international academic competition that develops students' creative and critical thinking skills while challenging them to explore and solve complex issues the world may face in the future.
Anna earned this incredible opportunity after being awarded Best Writer in the On-Site Scenario Writing Middle Division at the 2025 Future Problem Solving National Finals. As a result of this exceptional achievement, she was invited to join the Australian team competing at the International Finals, being held this week at Indiana University Bloomington. Representing Australia on the international stage is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to Anna's dedication and intellectual curiosity.
Following the competition, Anna will also participate in tutorials and academic enrichment activities at Harvard University, providing her with another extraordinary opportunity to extend her learning and engage with students and educators from around the world.
We wish Anna every success at the International Finals and look forward to hearing about her experiences upon her return. We are incredibly proud of all she has achieved and the way she continues to embrace new challenges and opportunities.

Year 8 Shakespeare Afternoon
On Friday, our Year 8 students took centre stage for our annual Shakespeare Afternoon.
After enjoying a lunchtime feast inspired by the Elizabethan era, students treated family, friends, and staff to two impressive performances. First came Shakespeare's iconic tragedy Romeo and Juliet, followed by the mischievous comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream.
From star crossed lovers and feuding families to mischievous fairies and enchanted forests, our students embraced every moment, delivering performances filled with energy, humour, and courage.
Congratulations to all Year 8 students on their outstanding performances.

GSV Cross Country
Despite the determined looks on their faces, our students had a fantastic time competing at the GSV Cross Country Carnival at Cruden Farm.
The annual event brings together hundreds of runners from schools across the Girls Sport Victoria network, testing endurance, resilience, and determination over a challenging course.
We are proud of every Korowa runner who embraced the challenge, encouraged their teammates, and represented the School with enthusiasm and sportsmanship.
Well done to all involved.

STEM Racing | State Final Selection: https://www.korowa.vic.edu.au/post/preparing-for-stem-racing-state-final
Seven teams of Year 8 and 9 students recently put months of engineering, innovation, and teamwork to the test in our internal STEM Racing competition.
From designing and refining miniature race cars using CAD software to developing branding, marketing materials, and professional portfolios, STEM Racing is about far more than speed.
As Team Solstice (Year 9) reflected, "Being part of this team has been an amazing experience.
It has pushed us to be creative, work together, and perform under pressure. Each setback turned into a chance to learn, and each success showed the hard work of our team."
Successful teams will be announced soon as they race towards the State Final in October.

Congratulations to Matilda on an outstanding performance at the Victorian Gymnastics Championships.
Competing in the Developing International division, Matilda delivered an exceptional result, placing second overall and achieving a qualifying score to compete at the National Championships in July.
Her individual results included fourth on vault, third on bars, third on beam, and second on floor.
Matilda is one of many Korowa students balancing the demands of school with high level sporting commitments. It takes dedication, resilience, and careful time management to pursue excellence in both areas, and Matilda continues to do so with remarkable success.
We wish her all the best as she prepares to represent Victoria at Nationals in July.
