Parking Reminder – Oceanic Drive
Please note that the section of Oceanic Drive marked as a No Parking Zone between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm must remain clear each afternoon. This area is designated to allow vehicles to queue safely and efficiently for the Kiss and Go pick-up zone.

We ask all families to please refrain from parking on this side of the street during school pick-up times. Your cooperation helps reduce traffic congestion, improves safety for pedestrians, and ensures the smooth operation of our afternoon pick-up procedures.

Please refer to the map attached for details of the designated No Parking area.

Senior Athletics Carnival 2026 – What a Day!

What an incredible day we had at our 2026 Senior Athletics Carnival!

After weeks of anticipation, the weather delivered the goods, the sun was shining, the tunes were pumping all day, and our students absolutely rose to the occasion. From the first race to the final 9 Years long jump, the carnival was filled with energy, excitement, and plenty of unforgettable moments.

We witnessed outstanding sportsmanship across every event. Students cheered for one another, celebrated personal bests, encouraged teammates, and showed that winning isn't always measured by a ribbon or a place on the podium. The competitive spirit was certainly alive, but so was the kindness, respect, and support that makes our school community so special.

There were smiles everywhere you looked, friendships growing stronger throughout the day, and enough dancing between events to make you wonder if we'd accidentally organised a music festival instead of an athletics carnival! Some students discovered hidden talents, others pushed themselves outside their comfort zones, and many simply enjoyed being part of something bigger than themselves.

A huge thank you goes to our amazing staff who barely stopped moving all day and also our special Merrimac/Miami High students. Whether measuring jumps, recording results, setting up equipment, supervising students, or solving the hundred little challenges that pop up during a carnival, their efforts ensured the day ran smoothly from start to finish.

We'd also like to thank our wonderful volunteers and supporters who came along to cheer on our athletes. The encouragement from the sidelines created an atmosphere that our students will remember for a long time.

A special shout-out to YMCA for keeping our staff, students, and volunteers fuelled throughout the day with a fantastic BBQ. Nothing says "peak athletic performance" quite like chasing a personal best and then celebrating with a sausage on bread!

Most importantly, thank you to our students. Your enthusiasm, determination, resilience, laughter, and school spirit made the day the success it was. Whether you crossed the finish line first, last, or somewhere in between, you represented our school with pride.

The medals will eventually find a place on a shelf, but the memories, friendships, laughter, and stories from today will last much longer.

What a carnival. What a community. What a day!

Miami Gala Sports Day #1 – Rain 0, Miami 1!

What a day! Not only did our students spend the day dodging defenders, interceptors, tags and tackles, they also managed to dodge the rain clouds that threatened to join the action!

Yesterday was everything Gala Sports Day should be – smiles, laughter, teamwork and plenty of unforgettable memories. And our netball players represented in our new school uniforms.

For many of our students, this was their very first time playing team sport in a competitive environment. For others, it was their first opportunity to pull on a Miami State School shirt and proudly represent their school on the sporting fields. Regardless of the scoreboard, every student should be incredibly proud of the way they competed, encouraged their teammates and embraced the experience.

There were amazing plays, spectacular efforts, plenty of cheering from the sidelines and even a few moments where enthusiasm may have outweighed sporting ability (but that's all part of the fun!)

Most importantly, students stepped outside their comfort zones, made new friends, supported one another and created memories that will last long after the muddy shoes have been cleaned.

A huge thank you to our staff, coaches, officials and families for helping make the day such a success.

Miami, you did us proud!

*Now time to repeat ourselves on the Athletics field for our Year 4 - 6 students!
