Another fantastic term of Breakfast Club has come to an end, and what a wonderful term it has been! πŸ₯£πŸžβœ¨

Breakfast Club is so much more than just breakfast. It helps fill hungry tummies, provides a calm and welcoming start to the day, supports students who may find morning drop offs challenging, and makes busy Monday and Friday mornings a little easier for families.

We love seeing students connect, chat with friends, and start their day feeling happy, settled, and ready to learn.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back next term! Join us in the Art Room every Monday and Friday morning for a delicious range of breakfast options, including Mrs Haley’s famous homemade pancakes! πŸ₯žπŸ’›

During the week, a group of Year 3 - 6 students had the exciting opportunity to participate in a High Ability Chemistry Extravaganza incursion with TwistED Science! πŸ§ͺ✨

Students explored the wonders of chemistry by creating squishy gels, testing indicators, and investigating pH reactions that fizzed, bubbled, and transformed before their eyes. Along the way, they observed how substances change and were encouraged to think and work like real scientists.

A huge thank you to TwistED Science for providing such a fun, engaging, and hands-on learning experience for our students! πŸ”¬πŸŒŸ

Our Devil Bend Student Ambassadors had an incredible day today as part of our Outdoor Learning Program! πŸ‹

The students visited Cape Schanck Lighthouse for a whale watching experience hosted by Georgie and Hansi. After an informative session, they headed out to spot whales in the wild and what a day it was!

In just 2.5 hours, they spotted 7 whales, witnessed an amazing double breach (two whales leaping from the water side by side), saw tail slapping, and plenty of whale blows.

The students were in awe and loved every minute of this unforgettable experience. Thank you to Mr Iiles for facilitating this incredible day! 🐳

Lunchtime Clubs at Moorooduc - Where Every Child Belongs πŸ’›

Our incredible Lunchtime Clubs provide students with opportunities to explore their interests, build friendships, develop new skills and simply have fun.

What makes our clubs so special? They are constantly evolving and changing based on student voice, interests and needs. If our students are passionate about it, we’ll do our best to make it happen!

And the best part? Participation is completely optional. Our clubs are there for students who would like to join in, but we also know the value of free play, outdoor exploration, and simply spending time with friends.

Moorooduc - More than just a school. πŸ’™

Our Outdoor Learning program is one of the many amazing programs we offer that set us apart from the rest! 🌱🐝🌿

Students from Prep to Year 6 participate in Outdoor Learning sessions with a specialist teacher, where they develop practical skills, deepen their understanding of the natural world, and enjoy hands-on learning in the great outdoors.

Throughout the year, students explore a wide range of topics including:
🌻 Planting, growing, and caring for plants
🐝 Bees, pollinators, and biodiversity
πŸ¦‹ The role of butterflies and insects in the garden ecosystem
πŸ₯• Seasonal vegetable gardening, harvesting, and cooking
♻️ Composting, recycling, and waste reduction
🌏 Sustainability and environmental stewardship
πŸ” Chickens and worms as important garden helpers
🌱 Understanding soil science and plant nutrients
πŸ’§ Healthy waterways and aquatic ecosystems
🐸 The role of frogs, fish, turtles, and yabbies in the environment
🌿 Native vegetation and the impact of invasive species
❀️ Cultural and Indigenous connections to Country and sustainable land management

These experiences provide authentic, real-world learning opportunities that help students develop responsibility, curiosity, environmental awareness, and a connection to nature.

And that’s just the beginning!! There is so much more to discover in Outdoor Learning! How lucky are we to have such an incredible program right here at Moorooduc Primary School? 😊🌱
