Kindergarten students had a wonderful time watching Where is the Green Sheep? live on stage. The show was filled with fun, laughter and excitement, with lots of smiles and giggles from our students throughout the performance.

Students across the school have been actively participating in a variety of engaging team-building activities during PDHPE, including hockey, basketball and Rob the Nest. Through these games, students have developed important teamwork skills such as communication, cooperation and problem-solving. Alongside physical activity, students have also been learning to recognise, understand and share their own emotions, while developing empathy by identifying and responding to the emotions of others. It has been wonderful to see students building positive relationships and supporting one another both on and off the field.

Last week K-2H were diving deeper into 2D shapes and exploring both regular and irregular shapes. We have mastered the skill of counting the sides to decipher what kind of shape we have encountered! We counted and used the tally system to show how many shapes we could find around the room, Ryder was our score keeper. Theodora expressed interest in hockey, so we spent our morning fitness experiencing hockey skills with Ms Kennedy. Woll and Giiri lead our phonics lessons in the morning this week, running us through the blending slides and Alex loved creating images with the 2D shapes, his alien was very unique!

Students in 2M have been learning how to measure and compare area using informal units. They explored the area of different objects around the classroom and then used their online maths platform, Essential Assessment, to consolidate their understanding and extend their mathematical thinking. We are proud of the enthusiasm and problem-solving skills they are demonstrating as they continue to develop their maths knowledge!

While we near the end of the term, 4S are still working hard in the classroom.

In maths we have begun learning about directional language and mapping. In our first lesson, we had the opportunity to use Blue-Bots which are fun little robots we can program to move in any direction. This was very exciting and a great hands-on opportunity to learn about directions.

In HSIE, we have been learning about cities, towns, and remote areas. We worked together looking at Google Maps to find similarities and differences in cities and remote areas.

We continue to work together and learn in 4S!

Students in 1C have been working hard to strengthen their reading and comprehension skills. During partner reading, we have focused on making sure we are reading digraphs and tricky words correctly. Some of our students have now started to use our ‘skim and scan’ skills to answer a range of questions!

K Red has been busy learning all about telling the time!

We have been exploring clocks, learning about the hour hand and minute hand, and practising how to tell o’clock times. Students have enjoyed using hands-on activities to show different times and build their confidence with reading clocks.

1/2S have been busy developing their narrative writing skills by creating their very own monsters and using them as inspiration for imaginative stories. In Maths, students have been building their understanding of addition and subtraction by using M.A.B blocks to model and solve problems, strengthening their number sense through hands-on learning.
