Proud as Punch Part II- Karen Field
We are also proud to share that Karen, Perth College Class of 1965, has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours — recognised for her service to charitable organisations and to the mining sector.
A Prefect and Captain of Debating in her final year at PC, Karen went on to build a trailblazing career spanning over three decades in mining and resources across Australia and South America. But it is her extraordinary generosity that truly sets her apart.
Karen is a Major Donor to organisations close to her heart including Perth College Foundation - supporting scholarships, including the Wulili Scholarship for Indigenous students, and serving as Chair from 2014 to 2023.
The UWA Centenary Trust for Women - empowering women to access university education, including through the CTW Miles Family Scholarship in Engineering and Science. Karen has been a Board Member and Chair of the Finance Committee since 2009. And Amana Living - where Karen also served on the Board for 15 years.
She is also a proud Patron of the Hackett Foundation at UWA, and has given her time and expertise to the Starlight Children’s Foundation and the Gravity Discovery Centre Foundation.
Karen, from your whole PC family — we couldn’t be more proud. Your generosity, your leadership, and your legacy of lifting others up is the very heart of what it means to be a Perth College Old Girl. 💙

Proud as Punch Part 1: the OGA are thrilled to announce 2 OAM recipients this year.
Betty was at PC from 1951 to 1955 and recently gave an interview in 2022 for the Centre for Stories where she talks about her volunteer experience during her retirement.
Betty was recognized for her service to the community, particularly refugees and asylum seekers here in WA, along with her roles with Friends of Australian Rock Art between 2009 and 2014, then her library service where she was a Librarian at the City of Fremantle for 31 years before retiring in 2005 and finally her role as a sponsor for Foster Parents Plan International for 50 years! Betty’s now in her late 80s and she was actively volunteering up until 2022 is amazing.
Love your work Betty.
