A golden opportunity to have an entire year of sins forgiven has once again arrived.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“I hope that fasting the day of ‘Āshūrā’ will expiate the sins of the previous year.”

A Blessed Post-Hajj Gathering
Alhamdulillah, I had the honour of attending a post-Hajj gathering organised by some of the Al-Itqan Hujjaj from the Oromo community in Cranbourne.
As their Hajj guide this year, it was a joy to hear their reflections, revisit memories of the sacred journey, and witness the community celebrating this tremendous blessing.
Allah states:
﴿قُلْ بِفَضْلِ اللَّهِ وَبِرَحْمَتِهِ فَبِذَٰلِكَ فَلْيَفْرَحُوا﴾
“Say: In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy—let them rejoice.” (Qur’an 10:58)
Such gatherings have a basis in the Islamic tradition. The scholars referred to them as النقيعة (An-Naqīʿah), a meal or gathering held upon returning from travel. The Prophet ﷺ hosted food upon his return from a journey, and Imam al-Bukhari dedicated a chapter in his Ṣaḥīḥ entitled “Food Upon Returning from Travel.” It is also reported that Ibn ʿUmar رضي الله عنهما would host those who came to congratulate him upon his return.
Based on these narrations, Imam al-Nawawi regarded such gatherings as recommended, while Shaykh Ibn ʿUthaymīn affirmed their virtue when they express gratitude to Allah and strengthen community ties.
May Allah accept the Hajj of all our pilgrims and grant Hajj to all those who long for His Sacred House.
اللهم تقبل من حجاجنا حجهم، واجعل حجهم مبروراً، وسعيهم مشكوراً، وذنبهم مغفوراً، وارزقنا وجميع المسلمين حج بيتك الحرام.
