Our Year 3 students enjoyed a wonderful excursion this week to Jellurgal at Burleigh, where they deepened their understanding of Aboriginal culture, history and connection to Country.
Through hands-on activities, storytelling and guided experiences, students explored the rich cultural heritage of the local Yugambeh people while gaining a greater appreciation for the importance of caring for the land and respecting First Nations traditions.
It was a fantastic learning experience that brought our HASS curriculum to life and created lasting memories. A big thank you to the wonderful educators at Jellurgal for sharing their knowledge and culture with our students.

We are proud to introduce our new Indigenous Yarning Circle – a peaceful and respectful space where students can gather, reflect, learn, and connect with Indigenous perspectives and culture.
This quiet area has been created to encourage reflection, learning, and meaningful conversations in a calm environment. Students will be using the space throughout the school day as part of their learning journey.
At Jubilee Primary School, we gather on the lands of the Koombumerri people of the Yugambeh language region, and we pay our deep respect to their Elders past and present.
This space reminds us of our shared responsibility to care for Country, protect the stories held in this land, and preserve its beauty and wisdom for the generations who will walk here after us. May our Yarning Circle continue to be a place of truth, unity, and growing together.
Parents and visitors are also welcome to enjoy this beautiful space when on site. We kindly ask that everyone helps preserve its purpose by ensuring children remain respectful and considerate while using the area.
