It was a privilege to welcome Dr John Senyonyi, former Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University, Dr Ruth Senyonyi and Rev Simba Musvamhiri, CEO of African Enterprise Australia to Moore College Community Chapel in May.
Dr Senyonyi preached on the friendship of David and Jonathan, reflecting on the nature of covenant love, a love that gives rather than takes. He highlighted Jonathan’s willingness to surrender his royal inheritance for David’s sake, pointing to the sacrificial love that strengthens relationships, friendships and marriages.
Those listening were reminded that while our world often loses sight of what true love looks like, the greatest expression of covenant love is found in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Dr Senyonyi's visit to Australia with African Enterprise also highlighted the importance of theological education in equipping pastors and church leaders across Africa, particularly in regions where access to formal ministry training remains limited.
Moore College is honoured to partner with African Enterprise AUS / NZ in providing the Moore PTC (Preliminary Theological Certificate) for their training program through our Centre for Global Mission.

The woman caught in adultery (John 7:53–8:11) with Mark Thompson.
On the latest episode of Moore in the Word, from a chapel service held on Friday 24 April 2026, Mark Thompson, Principal of Moore Theological College, speaks on John 7:53–8:11 and the account of the woman caught in adultery.
Mark considers the questions surrounding this passage and its place in the Bible before reflecting on the powerful truths it contains. He reminds us that it is easy to condemn others while overlooking our own need for mercy, that sin is always serious, and that the grace of justification brings both forgiveness and a transformed way of life.

Church as family: The apostles’ invitation to live as siblings with Simon Flinders.
In this episode of the Priscilla & Aquila Centre podcast, from the second plenary address at the 2026 Annual Conference, Simon Flinders, Archdeacon to the Archbishop of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney, explores what it means for the church to be family.
Drawing on the New Testament’s language of adoption and new birth, Simon shows that the church is more than an institution or gathering. Through Christ, believers have become brothers and sisters in God’s household. What does this shared identity mean for the way we love, serve and care for one another?

Ministry is deeply relational.
At Moore College, as students live and learn in community they are shaped not only in knowledge but in character, prepared for a lifetime of ministry.
Over meals, in the playground or in the classroom, students enjoy discipling relationships and the kind of shared life that forms deep, lasting support networks that will help sustain them throughout their ministry lives.
Rosie lived in the single quarters of John Chapman House for the majority of her student years. Her experience is that living in community grows more than head knowledge, it grows character.
Give today to enable the vital ministry of learning in community continue.

Last week, the whole Moore College community, faculty, staff, students and families gathered for Community Chapel.
We were introduced to our new Head of Advancement, Paul Nettlebeck, who read the Scriptures and shared about a time he learned to rely on God’s provision. Sally Swan led us in prayer and reflected on a season when she felt utterly dependent on God, recalling the confidence of knowing his care even when the path ahead was unclear - We can’t see right now, but we know the truth of God’s goodness.
Jack Day then encouraged us from 1 Kings 17, reminding us that idols promise much but can never deliver what only God can provide. While we often look elsewhere for security, acceptance and life, God calls us to trust him alone. Through Christ, we have the assurance of an unshakable kingdom, a family that welcomes us, and the promise of eternal life.
These gatherings are a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our fellowship, encourage one another, and be reminded of God’s faithfulness as we partner together in the work of the gospel.
