Today we are joined by Laura from Tracks to Literacy and we went through junior, middle and upper classes showcasing reading fluency. When students read accurately, at an appropriate pace, and with expression, they are able to focus more on understanding and making meaning. At ORPS, we are building strong reading fluency through explicit instruction, repeated reading and evidence-based practices to support every student to be a confident and capable reader. π π§βπ«

We really enjoyed having Caitlin Collins MLA visit our school and our Year 5 & 6 students had some great questions.
The toughest question time with Ocean Reef Primary School! π
Fantastic speaking with the Year 5 and 6 students about civics, democracy and what it's like to be their local Member of Parliament.
The students came prepared with plenty of thoughtful questions about my role, what I'm most proud of achieving for our community and the day to day realities of representing our community.
Thank you for having me!

Our Yarning Garden has come to life with a beautiful and meaningful new addition. Featuring six poles representing the Noongar seasons surrounding one central pole representing our Ocean Reef PS community, this space reflects the importance of connection to Country, culture and each other.
Each pole proudly displays the handprints of our students, symbolising the many individuals who come together to create our wonderful school community.
A huge thank you to Rubeun Yorkshire for his incredible designs and cultural storytelling that have brought this project to life, and to our amazing gardener Mr Harding for all of his hard work installing the poles and creating such a special space for our students and community to enjoy.
We are so proud to see this meaningful space grow and become a place for learning, reflection and connection. ππ€β€οΈ
