Capoeira Games 2026 🌊
Sunday the 21st of June, 2 pm to 5 pm
Scarborough Community Centre
This is where our students step up.
Capoeira Games is a high energy competition where students train with purpose, test their skills, build confidence, and experience what it feels like to perform as a Capoeira athlete.
Each athlete will take part in four exciting games, with each game worth 25 points:
Bananeira
A handstand challenge where athletes score points based on how long they can hold their bananeira.
Musicalidade e Ritmo
A music and rhythm challenge where athletes show confidence, timing, melody, singing, clapping or instrument skills.
Solos
A 30 second individual performance where athletes showcase movement, control, creativity, musicality and axé.
Duplas
A partner game where athletes show how well they can play capoeira with another person in the roda.
Athletes will compete within their age group:
Riacho
Under 10’s
Rio
Under 14’s
Mar
14+
Each age group has two divisions:
Aberto
Open division
Fechado
Invitation only division for students ready to perform at a higher standard
Capoeira Games is not only about winning. It is about training with focus, stepping into the roda with confidence, and showing growth. The event is competitive, but also supportive, encouraging and inclusive.
Spectators are part of the event too
Family and friends are warmly encouraged to come along to cheer on the athletes.
A strong crowd makes a huge difference. It lifts the energy of the roda, helps the students feel supported, and creates a real competition atmosphere.
Come ready to clap, cheer, make noise and celebrate the effort, courage and growth of every athlete.
