Refugee Week: Capoeira Workshop
Last week, the Diploma of Community Services (DCS) class under Sabina Harrouk attended a vibrant Capoeira Workshop as part of Refugee Week.
Through Brazilian music, dance, movement, and traditional instruments, students experienced how culture, creativity, and community can bring people together and promote inclusion. The workshop highlighted the resilience and strength of people from refugee backgrounds while celebrating the diversity that enriches our communities.
Participating in the activities encouraged respect for different cultures, strengthened social connections, and reinforced the importance of creating welcoming and inclusive environments. It was a valuable learning experience that enhanced students' understanding of cultural diversity, social inclusion, and community engagementβkey principles in the community services sector.
Thank you to the organisers and facilitators for providing such an engaging and meaningful experience for our students.

In celebration of International Women's Day on 8 March, the Diploma of Community Services (DCS) class under Miss Nazia created meaningful artworks showcasing inspiring women and their remarkable achievements.
Through their crafts, students highlighted influential women from different fields who have made a lasting impact on society. Each portrait represents strength, resilience, leadership, and the power of women to inspire change in our communities. π
This creative activity encouraged students to reflect on the contributions of women around the world while celebrating the importance of empowerment, equality, and respect.
