What a week! πŸ™Œ

Just wrapped up at the amazing AITD 2026 Conference and my brain is buzzing. Here's what hit me most:

A room full of L&D, almost all using AI in some way β€” but the conversation that mattered most was about what AI *can't* do.

It can't sense the tension in a room. It can't ask a question that doesn't already exist. And it definitely can't replace the trust a great middle manager builds with their team over years.

We talked about:
βœ… Why middle managers are burnt out (hint: it's not a skills problem)
βœ… Why curiosity might be the most important leadership skill right now

Exciting times. The humans are still very much in the room.

Day 1 in Brisbane done!

I had an awesome session with the crew at Real Serious Games, looking at how virtual reality and serious games can be used to create more engaging and practical training experiences.

There is some really exciting work happening in this space, and I can already see plenty of opportunities for clients and partners across different industries.

Now looking forward to the rest of the week and the AITD Conference.

Last week we wrapped up the CALM β†’ SAFE β†’ EXCELLENCE Workshop, and we wanted to share what we learned.

When we asked the leaders at the start: "How confident are you leading when things get really stressful?" – most said they were neutral. By the end of the day, they had a tool that actually works: breathe work.

Here's the thing – it's not just about feeling calm. It's about making better decisions when everything feels urgent.

One leader told us: "The more calm you are with yourself and everyday pressure, the more equipped you will be for a high-pressure event."

We're calling it the CALM β†’ SAFE β†’ EXCELLENCE framework:

CALM = Self-regulation under pressure

SAFE = Creating a culture where people speak up

EXCELLENCE = Crisis decision-making that works

The best part? 100% of the leaders said they'd recommend this to their teams. And 80% are already using the tools and techniques.

Yesterday we ran our first Nucleus Evolution workshop; and it landed.

Everything we do is built on three principles:

βœ”οΈ Safe β€” because no one speaks up in a culture that punishes honesty. We didn't just talk about psychological safety as a concept.

We ran a live simulation where leaders had to make decisions with incomplete information, competing priorities, and a clock running down. The kind of pressure that separates rehearsed capability from a hope-for-the-best approach.
