πŸ¦’πŸ¦“ PP Excursion to Perth Zoo πŸ¦“πŸ¦’

Our Pre-Primary learners had the best time exploring the zoo a couple weeks ago with our amazing parent helpers by their side. They were on a special mission to learn about animals' habitats, diets and unique features, gathering information that will help them when they begin writing informative reports back at school.

The day was filled with curiosity, thoughtful questions and exciting discoveries, all while enjoying the beautiful Perth sunshine. To make the day even more memorable, some of us were lucky enough to bump into former AFL star Nic Naitanui and snap a special photo together!

We can't wait to see how their zoo adventures inspire their learning back in the classroom.

Year Five Excursion to Parliament House and the WA Electoral Education Centre

On Monday 8 June, the Year Five classes travelled to Parliament House and the WA Electoral Education Centre to support their learning in HASS, with a focus on Government and Democracy in Civics and Citizenship.

At Parliament House, students learned about the history, functions and features of the Parliament of Western Australia, as well as the significant contributions of women in Parliament. They explored both Houses of Parliament, had the opportunity to access the floor of the chambers, and experienced a parliamentary division by 'voting with their feet'.

At the WA Electoral Education Centre, students deepened their understanding of voting in Australia by exploring voting rights, preferential voting, elections and the principles that protect electoral integrity.

Our guides were extremely impressed by the students' knowledge, engagement and understanding of government.

A sincere thank you to our wonderful Education Assistants and parent helpers for their support and assistance throughout the day. Their help was greatly appreciated and contributed to the success of this valuable learning experience.

Last week, our Year 6s had a fantastic day out at Scitech! They kicked things off with the Spring Loaded Science Theatre show, where students watched some fun (and sometimes surprising!) experiments all about forces and energy. There were lots of β€œwow” moments as the science came to life right in front of them. Next up was the To Space & Back Planetarium show. Students were taken on an amazing journey through space, learning about satellites and how space technology actually connects to things we use every day here on Earth. After that, they got hands-on in the Biosecurity Bonanza lab session. Students explored how Australia protects its environment from pests and diseases, working through interactive activities that got them thinking and problem-solving.

They finished the day in the General Exhibition Area, where students explored the interactive exhibits in small groups. There was plenty of experimenting, investigating and lots of excitement as they tried everything out. It was a brilliant day full of curiosity, hands-on learning, and fun!

πŸ’œ CtK Supports Epilepsy WA πŸ’œ

Recently, Miss Williams had the pleasure of attending an Epilepsy Awareness morning tea at Parliament House with Harry (Year 2) and his mum, Carly, in support of Epilepsy WA.

The event featured several inspiring guest speakers who shared their personal experiences of living with epilepsy, supporting loved ones with the condition, and advocating for greater awareness within the community.

The experience reinforced the strong relationship between Christ the King and Epilepsy WA, and reminded us of the positive impact a caring school community can have on students and families.

Last Thursday, we proudly hosted a Purple Day fundraiser, raising an incredible $1,228.65 through gold coin donations and the sale of purple merchandise!!!

A huge thank you to our students, staff and families for embracing the day with such enthusiasm and generosity. Every purple shirt worn, every donation made, and every item purchased helped support the important work of Epilepsy WA and the families they support across Western Australia.

A special thank you also to our talented School Rock Band, who kept the lunchtime crowd entertained with some classic hits and helped create a fun and vibrant atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

We are so proud of what we achieved together and grateful to be part of a community that continues to show such kindness, compassion and support. πŸ’œ

Our wonderful Year 4 students had a fabulous time participating in the 24:7 Ministry Communion Retreat a few weeks ago, as they prepare for their First Holy Communion ✝

The retreat was a meaningful opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of this special sacrament through prayer, discussion and engaging hands on activities. This experience really supported and nurtured their faith journey.

We wish our Year 4 students every blessing as they look forward to celebrating their First Holy Communion this Sunday! ✝

All In for National Reconciliation Week 2026

The theme for National Reconciliation Week 2026 is All In, a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day.

All In makes clear that reconciliation is not a spectator sport and that all of us must step away from the sidelines and take action to make change.

The theme also reminds us that reconciliation and advancing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ rights isn’t a passive activity, and it is not solely the responsibility of First Nations people, who have carried the weight of championing, explaining and acting for far too long.

Reconciliation will not happen by itself, and it will not happen without all of us.
