Year 6 Transition Visit to Joseph Banks Secondary College ๐ซ
Our Year 6 students recently enjoyed an exciting transition visit to Joseph Banks Secondary College, giving them their first taste of high school life. ๐
Throughout the day, students participated in a range of engaging learning experiences. In Visual Arts, they created self-portraits, showcasing their creativity and individuality. ๐ญ
During Science, students took on a design challenge, working collaboratively to create a roof structure capable of collecting rainwater. They also explored Digital Technologies, where they coded LEGO robots and developed their problem-solving and computational thinking skills. ๐งช
Adding to the experience, our students were guided throughout the day by our 2025 School Captains, who are now thriving Year 7 students at Joseph Banks Secondary College. Their leadership, encouragement and insights into high school life helped our Year 6 students feel welcomed and excited about the transition to secondary school. ๐
The visit provided students with a valuable opportunity to experience specialist classrooms, meet some of their future teachers, and gain confidence about the exciting journey ahead. The enthusiasm, engagement and positive attitudes displayed by our students were outstanding, and they thoroughly enjoyed this first glimpse into secondary school life. ๐
We thank the staff and students at Joseph Banks Secondary College for making our Year 6 students feel so welcome and for providing such a memorable and enriching experience. ๐จโ๐ซ
We look forward to continuing to strengthen this connection as our Year 6 students prepare for the next stage of their educational journey. ๐โญ

Kindergarten will remain non-compulsory, and schools will work with families on the best transition to full-time school for their child.

Today, we had our Staff Development Day! ๐
It was a fantastic day of learning and reflection. Miss Ebbs was all alone in the office, but she got heaps of work done! โ
๐ช
We began the day by reflecting on key aspects of our school in preparation for our School Review coming up in Term 4. ๐ง โจ It took a great deal of brain juice, but we gathered some excellent insights to support our review.
Our Early Childhood team worked with Mr Mulcahy, reflecting on whatโs working well across Kindy and PreโPrimary and what we want to achieve over the next six months.
Our wonderful education assistants and prac students spent time with Ms McQuiggin focusing on Classroom Management Strategies, while the rest of the teaching staff explored a writing assessment tool to help provide students with clear, direct feedback on their writing. โ๏ธ๐
Our staff work incredibly hard to ensure every student receives the very best education we can provide. I am a very proud Principal. โจ๐
Wishing everyone a lovely long weekend โ weโll see you all back here on Tuesday! ๐๐
