This National Reconciliation Week, we reflect on the importance of listening, learning and walking together.
The 2026 theme, All In, reminds us that reconciliation is everyoneโs responsibility and that meaningful change happens when we all play a part.
At VTS, we are proud to work alongside First Nations students and communities across Western Australia through foundation skills programs, vocational training and community-based learning opportunities that support confidence, connection and future pathways.
We see every day the value of creating safe, supportive learning environments where people feel respected, heard and empowered to achieve their goals.
This week, we encourage everyone to take time to learn more about our shared histories, cultures and communities and to consider how we can all contribute to reconciliation in meaningful ways.

A really positive story from our SEE Program this week. ๐ค
Neilo joined VTS around six months ago. He often kept to himself in class, but he showed up, worked hard and always gave thoughtful contributions when he spoke.
He shared with his trainer that his dream job was working on a cattle station. After some difficult years and personal challenges, he said coming to VTS had helped him stay focused and keep moving forward.
A few weeks ago, he heard his old station was hiring again. Together with his trainer, he updated his resume, tracked down previous qualifications and prepared his application.
This week, he got the news that he had been successful.
He came into class yesterday for what we thought would be his last day before heading off next week โ but while he was there, he received a phone call asking him to start immediately.
So off he went, straight back into the outback and back into the job he loves.
Weโre incredibly proud of him and grateful to be part of stories like this.
The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.

Weโre on the road.
As part of our continued expansion into the Pilbara, VTS has invested in a coaster bus to support delivery in Port Hedland.
Access to training can be a challenge in regional areas. This allows our team to better support students by providing transport to and from training, helping remove barriers to participation.
Over the coming days, the team will be travelling through regional WA as the vehicle makes its way north.
Weโre looking forward to strengthening our presence in Port Hedland and continuing to support local communities with accessible training opportunities.

When Cyclone Narelle came calling, our Carnarvon team didn't hesitate. ๐
Our staff and students came together over the weekend to help prepare our Carnarvon office โ sandbags at the doors, towels along the thresholds and a whole lot of community spirit.
We're proud of this crew. Thinking of everyone across Carnarvon and Exmouth who was impacted. ๐

โOur diversity helps make this a great place to work because it brings together people from many cultures and backgrounds, helping us learn from each other, build stronger relationships and create a workplace where everyone feels respect & included.โ

As part of Harmony Week, one of our Pilbara trainers shared what diversity means in the classroom.
โOur diversity helps make this a great place to work because every student brings their own unique ideas and skills. A diverse classroom is a place where we learn from each other and grow together.โ

Weโve worked alongside Samโs Spares for some time now, and itโs always rewarding to see the impact these initiatives have in the community. Programs like this help connect refurbished technology with people who can benefit from it most, while supporting skills development and employment pathways.
๐ Heโs Back for More ๐
And This Is What Impact Looks Like
Tom from VTS-Communities RTO 51843 has returned for another round of G1G1 laptops and monitors after seeing firsthand the quality of our refurbished tech and the real difference itโs making.
When businesses come back, it tells us something important:
โ๏ธ The product stacks up
โ๏ธ The service delivers
โ๏ธ The impact is real
Every G1G1 purchase doesnโt just equip a training organisation, it directly matches laptops into the hands of people in need across our community.
โจ๏ธ That means more students connected.
โจ๏ธ More families supported.
โจ๏ธ More neurodivergent team members employed and building careers in tech.
Tom, thank you again for backing what we do and trusting Samโs Spares to deliver. Partnerships like this are how we scale impact without compromising quality.
If your organisation needs devices and wants to create direct, measurable community impact at the same time, letโs talk.

Two participants at our Derby training venue recently cleared their court fines through the Work and Development Permit (WDP) Scheme while attending:
โข 52878WA Certificate I in Leadership
โข Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program
They preferred to remain anonymous, but their achievement highlights the positive impact education and training can have.
Through learning, they gained skills, confidence and a fresh start.
VTS is proud to support the WDP Scheme and help community members move forward through training.
If you have unpaid fines, speak with your support worker or local service provider about the Work and Development Permit Scheme and how education and training may help.

Weโre excited to introduce Flo-Kay and Tanya, our new trainers who are now based right here in Kununurra.
VTS has been delivering training in the East Kimberley since 2017, but this month marks something specialโweโre now here full-time and looking forward to working more closely with the community.
Our first focus will be establishing the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program, supporting people to build language, literacy, numeracy and digital skills that can lead to work, further training and new opportunities.
Kununurra will also be our base for outreach into Wyndham and other East Kimberley communities, so we can support people across the region.
Weโre also really pleased to be continuing our partnership with Job Pathways, building on the great work weโve been doing together in Broome over the past year.
If you see Flo-Kay or Tanya around town, please say hello.
The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
