As we celebrate World Ocean Day here at Nido Padbury, we recognise the importance of nurturing a sense of respect and care for our oceans from an early age.

Our Classroom 2 children explored the wonders of the ocean through a hands on playdough provocation. Using natural and ocean inspired materials, the children engaged their senses, expressed their creativity and shared interactions about the ocean and the sea creatures.

🇮🇹 Festa della Repubblica 🇮🇹

Today we celebrated Festa della Repubblica (Italian National Day) and recognised the Italian families, children and educators who are part of our community.

Throughout the day, children engaged in meaningful experiences that introduced them to Italian culture, including learning Italian words and phrases through song. Using our 100 Languages approach, children explored language in a playful and engaging way, building connections and appreciation for different cultures.

Celebrating cultural events such as these helps children develop a sense of belonging, respect and curiosity about the diverse world around them.

At Nido Padbury, Reconciliation Week provided an opportunity for reflection, learning and meaningful conversations as we continue our commitment to embedding respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and perspectives into our everyday practice.

Connection to Country is deeply valued within our service philosophy and we recognise the importance of children developing a sense of belonging and understanding of the land, community and cultures that surround them. Through intentional experiences, storytelling, nature-based learning and genuine relationships, we aim to foster respect, curiosity and connection in ways that are ongoing and authentic.

Reconciliation is not limited to one week of the year, it is a continuous journey of listening, learning and walking together. 🍃

At Nido Padbury we value our connection to community. We have begun our weekly nature walks through our local park, giving our children the opportunity to explore, discover and connect with the world around them.

What started as simple conversations about cars, trucks, birds, flowers, trees and even a sweet mention of “nana” from one of our children, has sparked a growing curiosity about the outdoors and everything within it.

We can’t wait to see where these outdoor adventures take us. 🍃

Meaningful documentation is at the heart of how we make children’s learning visible.

Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we see documentation as more than just recording moments, it’s about capturing thinking, wonder and the journey of discovery.

In our Classroom 3, our children and educators recently explored our Earth in celebration of Earth Day. Through rich conversations, hands-on experiences and shared reflections, we were able to thoughtfully document this learning within our floor books.

These pages tell a story, of curiosity, questions, ideas and growing understandings. They allow us to revisit learning alongside the children, extend their thinking and create a deeper connection to the world around them.

Documentation like this ensures every voice is valued, every idea is seen and every learning moment is celebrated 🌏

We’re so excited to share our updated Service Philosophy 🌿

This has been a truly collaborative journey, shaped by the voices of our families, our wider community, thoughtful reflections from our educators and the valued perspectives of our Children’s Council representatives.

Through this process, we recognised that many of our educators connect deeply with visual learning and we also received feedback around the length and accessibility of our previous philosophy. With this in mind, we’ve mindfully refined it, bringing it back to something simple, meaningful and easy to connect with.

Our new philosophy not only reflects our core values, but beautifully places the child at the very centre of everything we do here at Nido Padbury 🤍

We can’t wait for you to explore it with us.

Inspired by Nature 🍃

Our Classroom 2 children were immersed in a vibrant mud kitchen experience last week where natural elements and colour come together to spark imagination. Through mixing, creating and exploring, the children are connecting with the world around them in a hands-on, meaningful way.

Nature-based experiences like these invite open-ended play, encourage creativity and support a deeper sense of belonging to our environment — all while embracing the joy of getting a little messy 💛
