We were incredibly lucky to welcome a very special guest to our Three-Year-Old Kindy on Thursday— Paralympian Rhiannon Clarke!

Rhiannon inspired our children as she shared her journey to becoming a Paralympian, highlighting the hard work, dedication and perseverance it takes to achieve your dreams. She encouraged our little learners to always give things a go and to keep trying, no matter the challenge — such an important message for us all!

Our Three Year Old Kindy children were then proud to show Rhiannon their amazing physical skills and all the new things they have been working so hard to learn this term.

Thank you, Rhiannon, for taking the time to visit us. We wish you the very best of luck at the Commonwealth Games. We’ll be cheering you on every step of the way!

Bringing Learning to Life in Three Year Old Kindy!

It all began with a simple conversation between a child and an educator about their weekend. With great excitement, the child shared their visit to the car wash—and just like that, an idea was sparked… maybe our Three Year Old Kindy could create its very own car wash! 🚗

From there, our learning journey unfolded naturally, led by the children’s interests and ideas. Together, children and educators gathered boxes, collaborated on planning, and worked as a team to build and paint our very own car wash. Of course, we also needed cars—so more boxes were collected and transformed into amazing creations, lovingly decorated by the children.

The big day finally arrived! The children eagerly chose their cars and took turns driving through the car wash, singing along to the Car Wash Song with Mrs McDonald. The excitement and joy were contagious!

This experience reflects what Three Year Old Kindy is all about—working together, exploring ideas, and bringing learning to life through play. By following children’s voices and incorporating family input, we create rich, engaging experiences that foster creativity, teamwork and a love of learning

Our program is guided by the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which supports learning through play, collaboration and responsiveness to children’s interests.
We value the important role families play in shaping our program. Conversations and shared experiences from home, like this one, help inspire meaningful learning opportunities.

We are so excited to be welcoming Brenton Tucker a Cultural Facilitator and Aboriginal Mentor from Yalkarang to our Service. Brenton will be joining us each month to share his language and culture with the children.

Through songs, stories, games and dance Brenton will be teaching the children Noongar language. We aim to continually embed first nations perspectives into our daily program. This allows the children to pay their respects to the traditional landowners while developing an understanding and appreciation for the Indigenous people, their culture and the land on which we live

Our OSHC Leadership Team was fortunate to undertake professional learning with Chloe Collard and Heather Carter Sullivan from CEWA’s First Nations Team.

We began the morning with a visit to Jack Adder Lake, offering an Acknowledgement of Country and taking time to ground ourselves on country.

As a Service, we reflected on how we currently embed First Nations perspectives into our programs and identified opportunities for deeper, more intentional growth.

We explored the significance of offering an Acknowledgement of Country and how to ensure it is authentic, meaningful and connected to our school community and local context.

Chloe and Heather guided us through First Nations language, culture and history, before leading us into a rich discussion about the Six Seasons and how we can share this learning with children in ways that are engaging and respectful. We finished the morning by exploring a range of First Nations resources that can support our team in strengthening everyday practice.

We left the session with a deeper understanding of First Nations culture and perspectives, and a renewed commitment to sharing this knowledge with children in ways that are thoughtful, genuine and meaningful. Thank you, Chloe and Heather, for sharing your culture, wisdom and passion with us.

Professional learning experiences like this are essential—they challenge our thinking, strengthen our practice and support our ongoing growth as educators committed to culturally responsive, reflective and values driven work.

Thoughtful Environments, Meaningful Learning!

Before the children arrive each morning, our Educators carefully prepare environments that spark curiosity, creativity and connection.

From beautiful dramatic play spaces, to construction zones, table top activities, quiet spaces and sensory play setups. Each area is thoughtfully designed to invite exploration, conversation and wonder. Every element is intentionally chosen to support children’s learning and development.

Often, the most meaningful learning begins with a simple invitation to play, and we love creating those moments.

We often think confidence comes first but confidence grows from something deeper.

When children feel accepted, connected and valued exactly as they are, they begin to trust themselves. They become more willing to try, make mistakes, speak up and keep going.

Self-esteem isn’t built through perfection or performance. It grows in the everyday moments where children feel seen, safe and enough 💛
