Classroom 5 explored their environment through the lens of our cameras. It was wonderful to observe the interactions between the children as they role-modelled taking photos of one another and captured images of different objects around the room. The conversations that emerged during these moments were lovely to listen to and helped promote language development, communication skills, and social connections as the children shared ideas, asked questions, and engaged with one another. 📸📷

Today, the children explored our lemon tree by picking fresh lemons and making lemonade. They were excited to participate in the process and enjoyed tasting the freshly made drink. The children used descriptive language to share their observations, commenting, “It is sour” and “This tastes yummy.” This experience encouraged sensory exploration, language development, and an understanding of where food comes from. 🍋🍋

Today, the children in Classroom 1 had the opportunity to explore a variety of paint textures and colours through both paintbrush and finger-painting experiences. This hands-on activity encouraged creativity, self-expression, and sensory exploration as the children freely engaged with the paint.

As part of the experience, the children were also introduced to aspects of Aboriginal culture through art, providing an opportunity to appreciate and learn about one of the world’s oldest living cultures. Through open-ended exploration, the children experimented with different painting techniques while developing their fine motor skills, creativity, and understanding of cultural diversity in a meaningful and age-appropriate way.

Worm Farm Adventures 🪱

Our worm farm continues to be a huge favourite among the children in Classrooms 4 and 5. The children take great pride in caring for our worms each day, developing a strong sense of responsibility and respect for living things.

Through hands-on experiences with the worm farm, the children are learning about sustainability, composting, and how worms help our environment. Today, the children enthusiastically assisted Tandin in creating another level for our worm farm. They worked together to break apart a soil block before carefully transferring the soil into the worm farm.

These meaningful experiences encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and an understanding of sustainable practices, while fostering curiosity about the natural world around them. The children were excited to contribute to the care and growth of our worm farm and look forward to continuing their learning journey with our wriggly friends. 🪱🌱

Today our babies in Classroom 1 enjoyed a beautiful sensory play experience with gloop. The children explored the soft and squishy texture using their hands and fingers, carefully patting, squeezing and watching how the gloop moved and changed. Sensory experiences like this help support our babies’ curiosity, fine motor development and confidence as they learn through touch and play. There were lots of smiles, giggles and messy fun throughout the experience!
