The IBDP is academically focused and prepares students for university study, with an emphasis on research, critical thinking, and global perspectives. The IBCP combines academic courses with career-related learning and practical experience, giving students pathways into vocational training, apprenticeships, or further study. Both programmes build on the skills developed through Montessori education, helping students succeed according to their individual interests and goals.

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐫𝐢?

Rather than relying on tests, Montessori assessment is ongoing and observational. Assessment is focused on what the child is currently doing and on what their next steps for development will be. It also considers not only academic skills, but also executive function skills and social and emotional skills.

Teachers track each child’s progress carefully, ensuring learning is understood deeply and at the child’s own pace.

A planting and weeding event is planned at our Tanah Close site, Kingsley, on the western side of Lake Goollelal this Sunday, 14 June.

Location:
Tanah Close site, Kingsley
Please note: We will be working at the south-eastern end of the site as per the map. Access is also available via the firebreak at the end of Benbullen Blvd.

Time:
9:00am – approx. 10:30am

What to wear:
• Long pants
• Closed-in shoes (Gumboots if you have them)
• Hat/cap
• Gloves recommended

Suggested to bring:
• Your favourite cleaned spade, trowel or mattock
• Water bottle
• Sunblock
• Insect repellent

Easy verge parking along Goollelal Drive

Please check the forecast and bring a jacket if rain is expected. We work in the rain, but not during thunderstorms. Workdays will proceed unless storms are directly overhead.

Please sign in on arrival to ensure you are covered by DBCA insurance. First-time volunteers should introduce themselves to the site manager for a brief health and safety induction.

At this stage of development, students naturally seek greater independence and a sense of purpose. Our programme supports this by encouraging them to take responsibility for their learning through purposeful work, collaboration, and engagement in community activities. This helps them build confidence, self‑motivation and practical skills that will serve them well in the future.

In true Montessori fashion, the students have planned and organised this fundraising event themselves as they work towards raising funds for their biennial trip next year. This event is the result of their initiative, teamwork, and hard work, and they would love your support.

Please note: Due to the forecast weather, the stall has been moved to the Timber & Trade section of Bunnings.
