For those who have been following the ongoing conversations and advocacy around educator wages in early childhood education, the recent announcement confirming a continued 15% wage increase for educators is a significant and welcome step forward for our sector.

At Nido Alkimos, we welcome this decision as an important recognition of the essential role early childhood educators play in supporting children’s learning, development, and wellbeing.

The continuation of this payment supports not only financial stability but also the retention of experienced educators in a profession built on strong relationships, care, and trust.

Our educators consistently show dedication, professionalism, and heart in everything they do for our children and families. This recognition matters, and we are pleased to see meaningful action being taken to value early childhood education as the critical foundation it is.

We thank our educators for the incredible difference they make every day, our community is stronger because of you.

✨ Celebrating 10 Years of Emily at Nido! ✨

This week we are so proud to celebrate an incredible milestone, 10 years with Nido for our Executive Service Manager, Emily.

Throughout her journey at Nido, Emily has always led with passion, purpose, and heart. Having worked across various services over the years, she has consistently shared her love for early learning and leadership, inspiring everyone who joins our nest along the way.

We are especially proud to recognise this milestone here at Nido Early School Alkimos, where Emily has been leading our team for just over a year now with dedication, warmth, and unwavering commitment.

With gifts from the children, educators and Nido, Emily felt the love from us all! We sat together, laughing and reflecting on her incredible time with the company, the growth and journey she has had all while enjoying a special morning tea. It was truly special to also welcome visiting managers from other Nido services who came together to show their appreciation, a beautiful reflection of the strong connections, collaboration, and support that define our Nido community.

Thank you Emily, for everything you do, and congratulations on 10 amazing years! 🕊️✨

A few glimpses of the Reconciliation Week provocations unfolding in our environments last week.

Through open-ended materials, shared stories, and moments of wonder, the children are exploring ideas of connection, respect, and belonging in ways that are meaningful to them.

Their curiosity and conversations remind us that reconciliation begins with listening, learning, and walking together 💛

What Does Reconciliation Week Look Like at Nido Early School Alkimos?

As National Reconciliation Week begins, our children, educators and families have proudly taken their learning beyond the walls of the service and into the wider community through the Sea of Hearts movement.

Following a fantastic professional training session with Connecting The Dots Through Culture, the educators have supported the children and families to thoughtfully create and display their own hearts, engaging in meaningful, age-appropriate conversations about kindness, respect, inclusion, belonging and caring for one another. These discussions support children to understand the importance of listening, learning and walking together respectfully on our shared reconciliation journey.

This week, we were excited to take our Sea of Hearts out into the community, with our display now located along the fence line of the service. Families and community members are warmly invited to pause, reflect, and add a heart of their own. A small explanation and reflective questions have been embedded with each heart to support those who may be unsure, helping everyone to recognise the meaning of the hearts and the impact of their actions in showing support for reconciliation.

Our Sea of Hearts serves as a powerful visual reminder of the importance of connection, acknowledging the histories, cultures and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and committing to a future built on respect, understanding and unity.

We are proud to stand together with our children, families and community as we continue to learn, reflect and grow on our reconciliation journey. ❤️💛🖤💙💚🤍

✨ What a wonderful evening at our Nido Kindergarten Information Night! ✨

Last night it was so special to come together with our families to share our beautiful kindergarten program, our Nido kindergarten curriculum, and the many ways we support children as they prepare for their transition to school.

We loved the insightful conversations around our daily routines and rituals, and it was heart-warming to hear such positive feedback about our older classrooms and learning environments. These meaningful discussions with families are what truly make our work so rewarding.

Coming together to share knowledge, build strong partnerships, and celebrate children’s learning is exactly what we’re all about here at Nido in Alkimos. What a beautiful, supportive community we have, thank you to everyone who joined us!
