🌱 Empowering parents to raise kind 🧔 empathetic šŸŒ kids. šŸ‘„Coaching, šŸ’»Membership and more! 🤩 I felt guilty every single night.

Hi, I'm Nina, a mindful mum to three loud little boys, and a certified Mindful Parenting and Head and Heart Mindfulness Instructor. Two years ago, I was a struggling mama who was feeling run down, exhausted and fed up with this 'mum life'. I was sick of my kids not listening to me, sick of them fighting, and sick of the all the yelling coming out of my mouth. Feeling like I had let myself down, le

You finally get a moment. The kids are occupied, the house is quiet enough - and instead of feeling relief, there’s this thing that happens in your chest.

That pull to get up. That voice that says you should be doing something with this time.

If sitting down feels more uncomfortable than just staying busy, Onnie Michalsky from names exactly what’s going on in this week’s episode.

She’s a therapist and mum of six, and she talks about supermum syndrome in a way that is so honest it might make you feel genuinely seen for the first time in a while.

This one’s worth a proper listen 🧔

Show yourself love and kindness, and make sure your kids see you do it.

Teaching our kids that it is OK to be kind to ourselves. That it is ok to love ourselves is such an important lesson to pass on our kids.

Remember - our kids are not so great at doing what we SAY but great at doing what we DO.

Therefore, if we show ourselves love and kindness, they learn to show THEMSELVES kindness and compassion.

Because - wouldn't you prefer your child to grow up being kind to themselves than unkind to themselves?

Think about the last time someone interrupted you mid-task and expected you to drop everything straight away. It doesn't feel great, does it?

Our kids experience that multiple times a day - and most of the time, we don't even realise we're doing it.

In this episode I talk about a really common double standard that so many of us fall into, and two simple things worth trying when you notice it showing up in your home.

What is a mindful parent?

A parent who responds thoughtfully to challenging moments, rather than reacting automatically (yelling, threatening).

A parent who is able to listen to both the words and feelings behind the words, when their child is talking.

A parent who prioritises their own needs and communicates this honestly and kindly to their kids.

A parent who considers everyone's needs when solving problem, rather than taking sides or using power to get their own way.

How does this sound to you? Would you consider yourself a mindful parent?

How many times today have you said "just a minute" to your kids - and how many times have you expected them to stop straight away when you asked?

I noticed this in myself a while back and honestly, I couldn't unsee it.

There's a quiet double standard so many of us fall into without even realising, and this episode is my honest, gentle look at what that actually means for our kids - and two simple things that are really worth trying.

The age old question....

Orange cup or blue cup?

The answer - neither.

Your toddler doesn't want juice anymore, they want toast!

"If kids grow up noticing their feelings or learning how to breathe, they're just going to be way better equipped for this life's journey as they grow up."

So much of the work that we do on ourselves as adults - learning to pause before we react, recognising what we're feeling in our bodies, finding our way back to calm when everything feels chaotic - is really just unlearning.

We're undoing years of patterns we picked up without realising it, because nobody showed us another way.

Alia talks about this in this weeks episode of Your Calm Parenting Path, and it really stayed with me.

If kids grow up with these tools already woven into everyday life, they don't have to go through that same unlearning process.

They grow up understanding their emotions, knowing how to take a breath when things feel overwhelming, and being able to calm themselves rather than being swept away by what's happening around them.

Alia also talks about how it goes beyond just managing stress - it builds kindness, self-compassion, and an understanding of themselves that they carry for the rest of their lives.

Top tips when taking your kids to a cafe.

1: Plan ahead - if possible, choose a cafe with a play area.

2. Take a selection of activities. My boys love taking little character sets from TV shows, or drawing paper and pencils.

3. Include your kids in the conversation, don't just expect them to entertain themselves.

4. Don't worry too much about the mess. This might be controversial, however I have found that cafe staff are more than understanding when it comes to crumbs on the floor and spilt water on the table. Taking away this worry can make it much more enjoyable time out.

5. Thank your kids for joining you on a cafe date.

I found mindfulness as an adult, after years of white-knuckling through stress and wondering why I kept reacting the same way no matter how hard I tried to change.

What Alia talks about in this episode is the idea that children who grow up with mindfulness as a normal part of family life don't have to go through that same unlearning process.

They absorb it through watching their parents, through shared practises, through a family culture that makes space for feelings and teaches them what to do with those feelings.

It's not about big formal meditation sessions - it's about small, everyday moments of noticing together.

Alia also shares a really simple grounding exercise you can try with your family right now, plus her vision for the Little Seeds of Mindfulness book series, which is just beautiful.

This episode left me genuinely hopeful about what we can pass on to our kids when we do this work alongside them.

New episode 🧔

This week I’m joined by Alia Sallam, a mindfulness coach and creator of the book series, and we talk about what changes for kids who grow up with mindfulness as a natural part of family life - not just something we turn to when things fall apart.

This quote from Alia really stuck with me because it takes so much pressure off.

It’s not about never losing it - it’s about that one second where you catch yourself.
