At our Service, safety is at the core of everything we do, supported by high-quality practices and ongoing professional development for our educators. Our educators now have access to a comprehensive Emergency Scenarios Resource Booklet, designed to strengthen emergency preparedness across our service.
This resource includes 30 structured emergency scenarios, covering:
• Lockdown situations (e.g. intruder, unauthorised collection, violent incidents)
• Shelter-in-place events (e.g. severe weather, chemical spill, external threats)
• Evacuation scenarios (e.g. fire, gas leak, structural damage)
• Other critical situations (e.g. communication failure, missing child)
Each scenario provides realistic simulations, step-by-step response actions and optional medical considerations (e.g. asthma, anaphylaxis, epilepsy)
Through regular practice and ongoing training, our educators are building confidence, consistency, and the ability to respond effectively to a wide range of emergency situations, including complex scenarios that require managing multiple needs simultaneously. This ongoing work ensures we continue to meet regulatory requirements while maintaining a safe, secure, and well-prepared environment for all children in our care.
Our commitment to quality and continuous improvement supports not only our educators but also the safety and well-being of every child and family in our community.

Supporting children with food allergies starts with safe, informed food practices.
The All about Allergens Kitchen Handbook, developed by the National Allergy Council, provides practical guidance on menu planning, reading food labels, preventing cross-contamination and ensuring the right food is served to the right child. The Kitchen Handbook is the companion handbook for the All about Allergens for Children’s Education and Care online food allergen management training.
Explore the handbook and strengthen food allergy awareness in your service.

Djeran is one of the six Noongar seasons, typically occurring in April and May and marking the shift into autumn in Western Australia.
While we often align it with the modern calendar, Noongar seasons are guided by changes in the landscape and don’t always match exact months.
