Our Primary students enjoyed a fantastic week of NAIDOC celebrations, exploring the rich cultures and traditions of Australia’s First Nations peoples.
Highlights included storytelling with Elders Aunty Louise and Aunty Doreen, traditional dance workshops led by Derek Junior and his troupe, cultural demonstrations from Derek, face painting and artwork by alumnus Chris Kaden and tasting native foods.
From Kindergarten to Year 6, students gained a deeper appreciation of First Nations stories, knowledge and culture through a memorable week of learning and connection.

We are delighted to announce that our Kingsway Primary Chess team came second yesterday at the IPSHA Chess competition held at Guildford Grammar School. Colin, Aaron, Tobias and Ethan, all in Year 6, were our representatives. Last year they came fourth and Mr Brown set them the challenge to be in the top three teams this year, which they certainly met! Well done boys.

Our Senior Girls Basketball team made it to the School Sport WA grand final yesterday at Bendat Stadium. Willetton Senior High came away with the win, but we were so proud of our girls who never gave up and played our usual high quality basketball.
To end up as the runner up team in the State with a young squad that is only going to improve over the coming years is amazing and we are excited to see what this group can achieve!

From sticky hands to perfectly rolled dough, our Year 8 and 9 students embraced the tradition of making bush bread and cooking it over an open fire as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations.
This hands-on experience provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with Aboriginal culture, learn traditional skills, and share stories around the fire. A fantastic way to celebrate NAIDOC Week at the College.

This term, our Years 2–5 students have been absolutely shining in our Diamond Dotz Club! Every Tuesday afternoon, they’ve been carefully placing tiny sparkling gems to create dazzling designs- one dot at a time and sharing lots of joy along the way.
As well as providing much fun, the club also improves fine motor skills and builds patience, strengthens concentration and creativity and encourages friendships.

Kingsway commenced NAIDOC Week celebrations with a special Secondary Assembly. We had Pastor Leon chatting with Mr Burton, with his final message being on guarding your heart and an informative presentation by singer and songwriter guest, Booxkid as well as vibrant dance group, Aliwah. Our National Anthem was given a special Kingsway touch by parent Rachel Visser and her three children singing in both Noongar and English accompanied by some Kingsway Secondary students.

Our Year 7 students have been exploring the fascinating world of magnetic forces. Using bar magnets, horseshoe magnets, iron filings, compasses and a range of magnetic and non-magnetic materials, students investigated how magnets interact and discovered the invisible magnetic fields around them.
Through hands-on experiments and inquiry-based learning, they developed their scientific thinking, made predictions, tested ideas and observed magnetic forces in action. A fantastic lesson full of curiosity, discovery and practical Science.
