I have wonderful clients whose kids I have painted and now the grandchildren too. Reminding me that I am now in my 3rd trimester of life🤣🤣 This particular family has grown so much and I asked them all to get down to the beach as I needed some more material and this spontaneous little scene emerged from another morning shoot.

A rainy day at the shack. Love the oranges against the charcoal benchtop which is lit up by the large window creating this complementary colour scheme. Listening to an 18th century saga and losing myself in shape and colour

An impromptu photoshoot at the beach at Yallingyup led me to some beautiful early light photos. I particularly love painting these figurative scenes because there is so much room for playing and pushing colour and keeping brushstrokes fun and spontaneous whilst pushing contrast with light and shadow. All things I explore when teaching my figure courses

Bought this hand painted vase in Turkey and couldn't wait to paint it. I also haven't just painted without any agenda for a while so it felt like a little paint play vacation. As always I complicated the scene but I was trying to play the light in the foreground and lose the focus in other areas.

There is a sculptor that lives on the island of Kastelorizo and he is such beautiful old man that when I saw him I asked him to pose for me. This is the result of a 2 hour session. He is a bit reclusive and lives very frugally. We couldn't communicate very well but I felt such peace in his presence. The simplicity of a moment with a beautiful gentle soul who lives through his art and his solitude. They say the new definition of success is peace and this man had it in abundence. I left the painting with him and in gratitude he washed my brushes for me. Loved the gesture and the humility. His sculptures are beautiful
