πποΈ STEM Learning in Action! ποΈπ
Today, the children became engineers, designers, and problem-solvers as they worked together to create a magnetic tile racetrack. Through building, testing, and redesigning their structure, they explored important STEM concepts including gravity, motion, balance, spatial awareness, and cause-and-effect.
By experimenting with different shapes, heights, and ramp angles, the children discovered how design choices influence the movement of their cars. Activities like this encourage critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and early engineering skills while making learning fun and meaningful.
At Kathyβs Family Daycare, we believe children learn best through hands-on exploration, curiosity, and play. πβ¨

π― Whispers of the Hive π
Today, our environment became a place of wonder, beauty, and possibility.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, children were invited into a carefully curated provocation where light, texture, colour, nature, and loose parts came together to tell a story. The golden honey flowed through the hive, bees rested among blossoms, and children explored with curious hands and thoughtful eyes.
As they scooped, sorted, poured, arranged, and investigated, they were not simply playingβthey were constructing theories, making connections, and expressing their understanding through the hundred languages of childhood.
The light table transformed familiar materials into something magical, encouraging children to slow down, observe details, and discover new perspectives. Every movement, every question, and every choice became part of their learning journey.
In Reggio Emilia, the environment is the third teacher. Today, it gently invited children to explore the beauty of nature, the importance of pollinators, and the joy of discovery through sensory-rich experiences.
β¨ A space where imagination met inquiry.
π A hive filled with wonder.
πΌ Learning made visible.

Episode 2: Dinosaur Transformation Project π¦π¨
Our dinosaur project continued as children enthusiastically transformed their large handmade dinosaur sculpture through collaborative painting and creative expression. Using vibrant green tones over the textured recycled structure, the children explored colour layering, brush control, imagination, and teamwork while proudly contributing to a shared group creation.
β‘οΈ Painting collaboratively on a large-scale dinosaur sculpture
β‘οΈ Exploring colour mixing, texture, and layered painting techniques
β‘οΈ Strengthening fine motor skills through controlled brush movements
β‘οΈ Encouraging creativity, confidence, and imaginative thinking
β‘οΈ Supporting turn-taking, teamwork, and shared decision-making
β‘οΈ Using recycled materials to promote sustainability and creative reuse
β‘οΈ Extending conversations about dinosaurs, nature, and prehistoric life
Pedagogy:
