You may start seeing AML checks become part of the settlement process from 1 July 2026.
But what does that actually mean?
In simple terms, AML stands for Anti-Money Laundering. These laws are designed to help stop criminals from hiding or using money made from crime.
For clients, this may simply mean being asked to confirm who you are or provide some additional information during your property transaction.
These checks are becoming a standard part of the process and help protect property transactions and the wider financial system.

With Tranche 2 commencing from 1 July 2026, clients may start noticing some changes during their property transaction.
This may include being asked for extra ID, documents or information before certain settlement services can be provided.
We encourage members to share this post with clients to help explain:
• What Tranche 2 is
• What clients may need to provide
• Why these checks are necessary
Clear communication now can help clients understand the changes and feel more prepared when additional checks are required.

Payday Super starts 1 July 2026, is your business ready?
From 1 July 2026, employers will need to pay super at the same time as wages. July will be a key transition period, with the final quarterly super payment due on 28 July, alongside the first Payday Super payments.
Now is the time to review your payroll process, check your July cash flow, and understand what payments are due and when.
The Small Business Super Clearing House will also close permanently on 1 July 2026, so employers should move to an alternative service and download any records before access ends.
The ATO has released guidance, practical examples and a short video to help employers prepare.
