HOCKEY EXCELLENCE
Over the last 2 weeks, 27 students have proudly represented the College at Hockey events across Perth.

Last Tuesday, 13 students from Years 7-9 competed for the Ross Meadows Shield at the School Sport WA Secondary Champion Schools Hockey Tournament. The team played some fantastic matches against both government and non-government schools North of the River, finishing 4th overall. A special highlight of the tournament was Ryan Cavanagh (Year 9 Thu Duc) being named Player of the Tournament, a wonderful achievement.

Yesterday, 14 students from Years 7-12 competed in Division 2 of the ACC Girls' Hockey Challenge. The team played exceptionally well throughout the day, reaching the Grand Final and securing an outstanding 2nd place finish.

Congratulations to all students on their efforts, and to Ms Sgro for her excellent coaching and leadership.

P&F MUSICAL BINGO
The Koort Centre was buzzing with energy on Saturday night as our P&F hosted their event of the year - Musical Bingo!

Led by Bamboozled Quiz Masters, an incredible 463 members of our College community joined in the fun, eagerly marking off their bingo cards as the songs played.

Alongside the coveted title of SHC P&F Musical Bingo Winner, the evening also featured some standout costumes. Sia and her chandelier stole the spotlight (or should we say, chandelier) to take out Best Dressed, while the ever-enthusiastic Michael Jacksons claimed the Best Dressed Table award.

The night also featured an impressive array of silent auction items and raffle prizes, made possible by the generosity of our families and local community. A heartfelt thank you to our supporters:

MUSIC FESTIVAL 2026
Thank you to our SHC families for joining us at the Music Festival on Sunday. It was so special to hear our talented junior and senior groups across so many instrument categories - vocals, percussion, woodwind, stings, brass and guitar to full orchestras.

Our senior and junior ensembles took to the stage for an impressive finale.

The Music Festival showcases how far our young people have come musically from Years 7 through to Year 12 and is also an excellent practice for the big Catholic Performing Arts and Jazz ‘n’ Shiraz performances later this year.

Thank you to our student helpers S***a (Year 10) and Vittoria (Year 11) for capturing the photo magic of the day.

SACRED HEART DAY 2026
Sacred Heart Day on Friday was a wonderful celebration of faith, community and connection. Celebrated on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, this highlight of our Spiritual Pillar began with a beautiful Mass in the Koort Centre, bringing our community together in reflection and gratitude.

Following the liturgy, students and staff embraced the fun of the day, changing into their ‘Childhood Nostalgia’ themed costumes and enjoying the many stalls and activities on offer. Importantly, the day also raised valuable funds in support of the RNDM Sisters’ missions in the Kimberley and Vietnam.

It was also a pleasure to be joined by students and staff from Sacred Heart Girls' College, Oakleigh, Victoria, our RNDM Sisters and Mr Lynch, Mr Di Nucci and Mrs Hywood.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making Sacred Heart Day such a success. A special mention to those who helped capture these photos for us to share with you - Year 10 student Sky; Year 11 students Hamish, Síofra and Marcella; Year 12 students Jaime, Sam and Taylor; and staff members Mrs Berichon, Mrs Burnett, Mrs Hogan, Mr Eamer, Mrs Farrall and Mrs Killian.

Our hearts are so full after a fantastic celebration.

SCARLETT DRAGE (CLASS OF 2025) AWARDED PRESTIGIOUS DOOLANN AWARD
A massive congratulations to Scarlett Drage (Class of 2025), who was presented with the prestigious Doolann Award by respected Noongar Elder Aunty Glenda Kickett on Saturday evening. Scarlett received the award as part of the Miss and Mr NAIDOC competition, recognising her strength, leadership, resilience and outstanding contributions as a Noongar woman.

The award is named in honour of Doolann-Leisha Eatts, a highly respected Whadjuk-Ballardong Noongar Elder renowned for her cultural authority, leadership and lifelong dedication to Aboriginal people. Doolann has spent more than 30 years preserving and sharing Noongar culture, history and language.

Scarlett is currently studying a Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art), pursuing her passion for contemporary Aboriginal art. Her artistic journey has also included extensive dance training from a young age across contemporary, ballet, jazz, acrobatics and hip-hop. She has performed internationally in the United States and at major local events including the Perth Royal Show and AFL games.

For several years, Scarlett has also performed traditional Aboriginal dance under the guidance of respected Noongar mentors. She finds deep fulfilment in sharing culture and dance through programs, workshops and projects supporting young people in custody.

Scarlett is deeply passionate about improving Indigenous health and disability support services, particularly for children and young people. Having witnessed the challenges faced within her own family, and the gaps that exist in culturally safe care, she is motivated to advocate for more equitable and accessible services for Aboriginal communities. Her passion has also been strengthened through her experience working with the Kulunga Aboriginal Unit at the Kids Research Institute Australia.

Scarlett joined the Miss NAIDOC Perth program to continue her personal growth, build confidence and use her voice to advocate for issues affecting Aboriginal people today. Well done!

KICKING GOALS AT AFL AND AFLW
Yet another win for our AFL and AFLW teams on the field today! Congratulations to our Year 7s for raising the bar even higher and winning the ACC Year 7 Australian Football Carnival in their respective categories.

With a very close finish in the last round, our Year 7 AFL team won 4 out of 5 games. The final game came down to the wire and was decided by the final percentage, which we won! Our Year 7 AFLW team impressively won all five games played today! This takes both teams on to the Grand Final. What a fantastic result for both teams.

This continues our excellence in the Sporting Pillar after winning the overall shields at both the ACC Cross Country Carnival and the All Schools Cross Country Carnival.

The harder you train, the more you gain and our Year 7s have put in an incredible training effort during Term 1 and Term 2. They have learnt how to work together, perfecting their game communication, possessions, kicks and handballs. With the help and guidance of our talented Health and Physical Education Department, these are well deserved wins. Let’s keep pushing.

GO HEARTS!
