⚽💚💛 Go Socceroos! 💛💚⚽

Our children have been celebrating the excitement of the Football World Cup through fun and engaging learning experiences!

They enjoyed colouring pictures of the Socceroos, exploring Australia's national football team through creativity and self-expression. The excitement then continued indoors as the children practised their football skills by kicking the ball, aiming for goals, and cheering on their friends.

These activities supported fine and gross motor development, teamwork, coordination, and a love of active play while connecting children to a global sporting event.

What a fantastic way to combine learning, movement, and World Cup spirit! 🇦🇺⚽

📚✨ Story Time in the Kindy Room ✨📚

Our Kindy children enjoyed a wonderful story time experience with one of our educators. As they listened attentively to the story, the children were encouraged to use their imagination, make predictions, and engage with the characters and events throughout the book.

The learning continued after the story ended, as the children eagerly asked thoughtful questions, shared their ideas, and connected the story to their own experiences. Many of them were excited to tell their own stories, creating meaningful conversations and building confidence in their communication skills.

Story time is a valuable part of our day, supporting language development, literacy skills, critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love of reading.

We love seeing our Kindy children become confident storytellers and enthusiastic learners! 🌟

🌟 Hands-On Learning in Pre-Kindy! 🌟

Our Pre-Kindy children became little chefs as they helped our educators make homemade playdough from scratch!

The children enthusiastically participated in measuring, pouring, mixing, and stirring the ingredients, discovering how different materials come together to create something new. Once the playdough was ready, they enjoyed exploring its texture, rolling, squeezing, moulding, and creating their own imaginative masterpieces.

This fun and engaging activity supported the development of fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, early maths concepts, teamwork, and creativity. Most importantly, it encouraged the children to learn through hands-on experiences and active participation.

We love seeing our children build confidence and curiosity while having fun with their friends! 💚

🚦🚗 Learning Through Play in Pre-Kindy! 🚚🛣️

Our Pre-Kindy children had a fantastic time exploring road safety through hands-on play!

Using cars, trucks, and a road-themed play mat, the children engaged in imaginative scenarios that helped them develop an understanding of basic traffic rules and safe road behaviours. Together, we discussed the importance of following traffic signals and learned how to identify the colours of the traffic lights: red means stop, yellow means wait and attention, and green means go!

Through this engaging experience, the children strengthened their communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and understanding of the world around them, all while having lots of fun with their friends.

Learning becomes even more meaningful when children can explore real-life concepts through play! 🌟

🌟 Finalist Spotlight: Earbus Foundation of WA

As we look ahead to the 2026 Awards, we’re celebrating some of the incredible organisations recognised in 2025, including Earbus Foundation of WA, Finalist in the Awards Australia Community Group Award.

Earbus Foundation of WA is led by Co-founder and CEO Dr Lara Shur, a passionate advocate for improving the health and wellbeing of children across Western Australia.

Through innovative mobile ear health services, Earbus helps Aboriginal and at-risk children access the hearing support they need to learn, connect and thrive.

Dr Shur was the inaugural Director of Clinical Services at Earbus, a position she held for more than 10 years. She brings extensive experience in paediatric and regional healthcare to her role as CEO, and her work continues to support children, families and communities across the state.

For Dr Shur and the Earbus team, being named a Finalist was deeply meaningful.

“Being named a finalist in the 7NEWS Community Achievement Awards for Regional WA was affirming and gave great encouragement to everyone at Earbus,” Dr Shur shared.

“It was an honour to stand alongside organisations like Dandelions WA and other finalists who make such a meaningful difference in communities across the state.”

For Earbus Foundation, the recognition reflected the dedication of their team and partners, who work to improve access to ear health for Aboriginal and at-risk children.

“It reinforced the importance of our mission and the collective impact we can achieve when we work together to give every child the opportunity to hear, learn and thrive.”

The Awards also created space for connection, with Dr Shur describing the night as a chance to meet like-minded people and organisations working to make a positive impact across Western Australia.

“I saw many familiar faces on the night and also met some beautiful people. We can all support each other to achieve great things in WA.”

What continues to motivate Dr Shur is the life-changing difference early diagnosis and treatment can make.

“What motivates me is seeing how something as simple as diagnosing and treating middle ear disease can transform a child’s life,” she said.

“Too often, children with undiagnosed middle ear disease are seen as inattentive or disruptive, when in reality they’re struggling to hear and becoming disengaged from school.”

Dr Shur says that without intervention, the impacts can reach far beyond education, affecting a child’s social and emotional development too.

“I’m driven by the knowledge that many Aboriginal and at-risk children still face barriers to accessing basic healthcare, and that we can be part of the solution.”

“The dedication of our team, our partners, and the resilience of the communities we work with inspires me every day to keep pushing forward and striving for better outcomes.”

For anyone thinking about nominating themselves or someone else, Dr Shur’s advice is:
“I’d strongly encourage anyone considering a nomination to go for it. Recognition like this not only celebrates the hard work of your team, but it also builds trust and credibility within the community you serve.”

She says the Awards are also a chance to connect with other inspiring organisations and recognise the collective impact happening across regional WA.

“It’s an opportunity to share your story, inspire others, and shine a light on causes that truly matter.”
