FRC Team 4788, an eclectic group of highschoolers from across West Australia! Brought together by a passion for robotics and making change!

Representing Team 4788, Team 5333 and Team 5663, three FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams based at Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia. Curtin University FIRST Robotics pairs teams of high school students competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition with Engineering mentors from Curtin University to design, build & use a large robot in the regional competition held in Sydney, Australia.

WEEK 6 DONE! πŸŽ‚

Week 6 has been and gone, and what a riveting week it was! (pun intended). All the parts needed for our off-season robot were shipped on Friday (including 4 swerve MK5N modules from DNA Racing), and we completed the drivebase during a scrimmage we hosted on Saturday. Teams from Lesmurdie, Como, and Lakelands all attended and were provided with complete access to our facilities, tools, and hands-on help from our experienced team of mentors. We have another scrimmage next Saturday, during which we hope to complete our bot, time will tell if that rings true, so stay tuned for our future posts!

WEEK 5️⃣ DONE!

One week later, and one step closer to WARP! All the parts needed for the offseason bot have been ordered, and machining has begun. After the parts get shipped we’ll be ready to begin mechanical work on the bot. We ended the week by getting an early start on drivertraining for WARP! Stay tuned for more updates!

WEEK 4 COMPLETE πŸŽ‰

Week 4 has come to a close. Much of our time was spent moving into a larger and brighter build space. After adjusting to the new workshop, some of the new recruits continued working on the rookie robot, while some others joined the main group to work on designing and ordering parts for our off-season bot!

WEEK 3 COMPLETE! πŸŽ‰

Week 3 was particularly busy, our new recruits joined us for the first time this Friday and they returned for another session on Sunday to learn CAD and general mechanical skills. Coincidentally Sunday was also the Curtin Open Day, a great event with talks, demonstrations, and free food! After Open Day, the more experienced students completed the robot CAD ready for machining to begin ASAP

WEEK 2 & 2026 Ri3D COMPLETE! πŸŽ‰

Week 2 saw the annual WARP Robot in 3 Days event take place at Murdoch University, where Team 4788 supported the newly established WA FRC teams through 3 full days of robot building ahead of WARP this August!

With access to our mentors, tools and workshop resources, teams were able to gain hands-on experience and build confidence in all areas of FRC.

A huge thank you to DPIRD and Murdoch University for helping make the event possible!

We are now accepting applications for our year-round, hands-on, Advanced Robotics Program!

Students (aged 14+) will learn to solve real engineering challenges in a supportive, team‑based environment, alongside knowledgeable university mentors.

Here's what they'll get up to:

Design & Build - Learn the engineering design process, from CAD to assembly, with the help of state-of-the-art machining facilities. By August, they'll have built a 50kg robot ready to compete in the WA Robotics Playoffs!

Programming - Code in Java to control autonomous & driver-operated robot functions

Compete - Take part in two annual FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) events, facing off against more than 40 teams from across Australia

The FRC program is recognised globally by universities and employers as a top-tier STEM extracurricular. Based at Curtin University, participants will get a head start on campus life & STEM pathways before even graduating high school.

No experience? No problem - we're looking for eager learners who share our passion for robotics!

Our Winter Season (Mid-May to August) will bring them up to speed fast as they build something to brag about at the dinner table.
